I'd have preferred Mayweather

Mayweather tied up with Oscar for rest of year so think that was reason they didnt go with him, Roach said he's gonna teach Khan to throw his punches with more power plus that his knock downs were more a question of bad balance which i kind of agree with and that he'll iron all his faults out, also that he expects Khan to be a multi weight world champion 2 years from now!

Given that Khan is a huge Lightweight - and there isn't that much class in the Light Welter division. I don't think that is a particularly bold prediction.

Freddie merely confirmed that he will be holding talks with Amir Khan and his uncle. No deal has been agreed yet.

No boxing show on Talksport, was just breaking new story, think Radio 5 has one though but not sure when? Yes your right in terms of no contract being signed but dont see any reason why it wont? Roach will be in England on 27th July to finalise details so dont see any problems, he sounded very up for it and would be a great fit for Khan

being a gymmate/sparring partner for the p4p king and best in your divison is mint anyway, never mind roach training him as well

i posted this yesterday on khan comment it was on boxingnews.com i think that they were bring an american coach
and i said it would be good to see freddie roach or emanual stewart because they will sort out his defence and teach him how to punch properly

Great news for Khan if it happens.

Its defo happening, they've already agreed verbally and Khan spent time at wildcard gym so Roach knows what needs to be sorted, he was especially vocal about Khan's lack of planting his feet to punch and that his bad balance was the cause for his knockdowns

Excellent news. This means that Khan should fulfill his potential. Roach is amazing.

I'm not convinced by Roach. With the exception of Pacman I can't remember another fighter he's improved. DLH was okay against Floyd, but not great. Manfredo Jr was awful against Lacy.

As mentioned above, Roger Mayweather or even Floyd Sr are the only US trainers that would improve his defensive skills.

Wasn't Bernard Dunne trained by Roach too and he has fast hands but left his chin wide open.

heh I was waiting for someone to say it about Roach, and I agree entirely.

There is far too much emphasis put on a coach these days.

Anne Wolfe wouldn't be a bad shout as a trainer, provided they could televise it. I reckon he'd last a day.

You have to be double hard to last with Anne Wolfe. That's a large part of the reason why I think Kirkland is almost a dead cert for a World title.

Double, triple hard/mad. She has you pissing lightning and vinegar within a week. Apparently Kirkland was a tough Mofo in prison as well.

If talks are sucscessful & Roach is appointed, I hope no-one tries to overrule Freddy. If Roach is hired, I hope his relationship with team Khan does not end in similar fashion to they way Oliver Harrison relationship with team Khan did.

Freddy has been around boxing for many years, is highly experienced. Khan is the pupil, Roach is the teacher. If Khan wants to progress, he'll listen to Roach. There should be no opinions from anyone else in respect of this.
