C'mon Gethin - expose this pampered pretender Siddique!

They both look pretty pampered to me
Don't really see the point of them squaring off, putting all this time into having an unbeaten record, u would think they would only risk it for a more meaningful title shot

He is either very confident of beating Sid or looking for an excuse to get out of the Fewkes fight, or prob both!

Martin is ambitious and has talent - with brothers Steve and Darren in the game he knows what it is all about and fighting an unbeaten in Siddique followed by a live wire like Fewkes shows his level of ambition and the belief his team have in him.
He has had a fairly gentle apprenticeship thus far but the breaks are coming off now!

LMAO at Terry's post! Just had a look at the odds for this fight and my bookies have it down as Nadeem fighting a guy called Steve Saville:

I'm guessing Gethin had to pull out?

Saville was the original opponent today's press release from Hennessy stated Siddique vs Gethin

Terry D wrote:I quite like Sid and he might surprise a few people in this fight. The times I've seen him live he got a bit gnarly and was drawn into a fight but he grits it out. His record is what it is but in this fight he gets someone who can push him and hopefully it brings the best out of him.
I think that is what is so appealing about this fight; both guys have been a little overprotected, but now they have to show how good they really are. I fancy Nadeem to win, although I haven't seen that much of Gethin

Good post Terry D
Saddique is better than people give him credit for
A win tonight could lead to a British shot next

Gethin rsf 7. Looked a bit of a premature stoppage, but Siddique definitely badly wobbled. Good fight.

thought stoppage was a bit early, alot of respect to Siddique and Gethin, great fight.
Siddique surprised me tonight, showed he's got heart.
Both can move on from this, also great sportsmanship by both boxers, hard fought , but never did either show any disrespect to each other, credit to both of them

A rather controversial stoppage in some people's eyes. Siddique was definitely hurt though.
Neither fighter will go far imo.

Will Gethin fight Fewkes for the English? Or Murray for the British title?

Gotta say, loads of respect to Sid tonight.
Up here we've all seen Sid fight the journeymen of the game, and many have wondered whether he can really fight or not or if he is all showmanship.
Tonight imo he showed he has heart to go with his flash style, but can fight too. The stoppage was prob about right i thought as he did look like he just sagged, might have gone on a touch longer, however i think he just got tired and had nothing much left.
Well done tho, and definately a descent domestic operator and will have learnt plenty from his first big test.

i enjoyed the fight, it really was a battle of the padded records, siddique chose to trade instead of stick and move and that is what cost him the fight in the end.
those boys are no world beaters obviously, but bloody good honest pros who were matched evenly, no matter what the standard of fighter, a 50/50 fight is always worth watching.

So does the Ingle style not work for most?

Sky was way over hyping this, both looked very average to me. and wasn't that good of a fight.
Stopped early imo, Gethin had him in trouble like that a few times, and he was fine a few seconds later.. but I think the stoppage was on the cards by then, so not a complete outrage.
