I'm looking to know firstly did the Heagney v Plavci fight take place, last I heard on Friday it was good to go, and if so what was the result ? It doesnt seem to be listed anywhere.

I was at the stadium last night and although I didn't get there early, (due to waiting for god damn people!) I missed the Fagan fight. What followed after that was Corbett, Murray against Mc Donagh, Jim Rock's fight than Tims and finally Dunne fight.

But as I said I came a later than what I wanted, but at the same time I didn't hear anyone talk of that fight.

Typically as you may view my comments being a Murray supporter, I think his was the fight of the night. I hope it got TV coverage. For some reason I didn’t rate the Dunne fight as much as others. I know he is our own but God he’s cocky! I wish he got on with the job more and knocked the fella out!

Only showed the last rnd of Murray on RTE2, he's not getting much luck when it comes to TV coverage.

I've sent a few emails and txt messages to other that where there but chances are they aint opened their eyes yet after a hard nights drinking lol.

Seen Andrew Murray fight once. He looked a bit like John Murray, i.e. tall(ish) pressure fighter.

Did he look good?

I dont want to go on so to speak because I'm obviously a fan of his but he was very good.

He totally controlled the fight, Mc Donagh literally didn't have a look in. You'd just have to watch him, he's a very good boxer (without trying to sound repetitive) But than again he was a great amateur fighter and if the high performance programme had been in place when he was 18 or 19 I sure he would have gone to the Olympics.

The only think I would like is if he did a bit more weights work and tried and develop a more powerful punch. Against the bigger boys he'll need that, but for the time being he's fine.

Without sounding negative towards Fagan, but he could struggle against Murray. I feel Murray will box him at length and at one point last night Fagan was in the same ring as Murray and there was a significant size difference between them both, Murray being a good bit taller, Sligoboy will confirm this......

Heagney won on points, didn't see it myself though so can't comment on it .

LOL tell me about it. There are 2 nice pubs at the bottom of the street though, mind you with 10 mins to go before the Sweet Pea v Hyland fight myself and Stevie Quinn took a run to the bottom of the road, only to be told by one doorman there was a strict dress code, no tracksuits ffs. the other pub didnt mind we just sat outta the way, necked 4 pints and run back up, only missed 30 secs of rnd 1 lol.

I was just watching his fight with Leonard Lothian. I can see what you mean. He is a quality boxer but very scrawny and not hitting hard. Talented fighter. I'll bet he'll become very good when he fills out a bit.

I personally feel, having followed Murray since first seeing him as an amateur, that he is underrated and could possibly be fringe world class.

I think he has more potential than McCloskey, though Big Ears doen't agree with me on that. The thing is, Murray HAD real power as an amateur (he stopped plenty of guys, including Gary Woolcombe, recently deposed British/English (not sure?) MW champion if I'm not mistaken).

However, I agree that he lacks power in the pro ranks, I had heard he had improved a lot but I'm slightly disappointed he didn't stop McDonagh. After Fagan (who Murray will comfortaby handle), who should he look to fight? Having watched John Murray v Meager, I think he is well ahead of Andy, just looked stronger and displayed more raw aggression.

How about someone like Meager for Andy? Or one of the decent Scots??

I think Andrew Murray should build up to a European title shot, then he could well end up meeting one of out good British fighters.

I agree, seeing how John Murray's filled out and seeing his power/accuracy; Andrew Murray's still very much a work in progress, if a talented one.
