Boxrec have Fewkes V Gethin for the vacant English lightweight title scheduled.
Should be a great fight, a real 50-50 match up. I'll look forward to it- boxing needs more bouts like this, proper prospects clashes. Lets hope the winner comes out looking good, some tasty opponents in that division, Murray, Thaxton, Khant etc
Edit- I orginally thought this was for the British title, but I was wrong.

Gethin wouldn't have beat Siddique if he hadn't have been friggered from the 4th round onwards. He was okay on the night but didn't really impress me - I think Fewkes starts off massive favourite here.

Gethin should just go straight for a shot at the British title, if he can. I don't know why he would choose to fight for the English title when he can maybe get a shot at the British.

Thinking about it, Murray was kept waiting so long for a British title shot. He showed he was ready last November and has to wait til July. Perhaps, these guys should fight each other and earn a shot at Murray. Fewkes-Gethin, fights like that are solid bouts in their own right.

Gomez posted an interview with Fewkey a week or so ago, and the Gethin fight was discussed.
Sorry I'm ignorant when it comes to redirecting threads - but if anyone's interested I'm sure you'll find it.

I like the look of Gethin but I can see Fewkes outboxing him, even over the ten round duration.
Clearly Gethin can fight and Fewkes ain't stupid so he won't be looking to get in a punch-up with him, or Fewkes will go the same way as Siddique.

Siddy isn't a patch on Fewkey.
Gethin's in for a tough night.
Fewkes on points - by a wide margin.

Am I the only person who is just massivly happy that there is such a poliforation of talented english fighters at this level, there are about 6 or 7 guys who I'd like to see fight for the british title including Khan, Earl, Murray, Thaxton Fewkes and Gethin, this is only one weight below light welter where recently Junior witter was awarded a longsdale belt becuase they couldn't find 4 fighters worthy of challenging for it for him to defend against. The state of british boxing is good at the domestic level and we should all be happy about it.
