Bobby Rimmer is NOT Matthew Hatton's new trainer. His trainer is Lee Beard and they are simply using the facilities at Bobby's Gym

I'd like to see what Woodhall could do with Matt....might get some pace on that jab of his.

thats your Coccyx, centre of gravity depending on the angle depends on your ability to take a shot and your ability to get out of the way of one or two.

Lee worked with Matt for his previous 5 bouts, Billy not really being involved until fight night, and Lee only handing up for his loss to Watson. Surely it would work better to use the person who trains with you every day.

You must be joking. He's just desperate to do something in the sport - how many things has been involved in post-retirement? Can't see it...

He is trying to do something in the sport because he loves it and probably needs an income, this is the only hame he knows.
Howeve I feel if Woodhall has the opportunity to seriously train some guys, he can make a real impact.
I have heard some very positive stories about him in the gym.
I think the reason he left the amateur set up was because he was too good for his own good, and the old amateur bods were worried about being exposed and losing their pay check

There are few English trainers worth raving about, and I doubt Woodhall is one of them.

I think Richie Woodhall would be a brilliant benefit to any boxer. Not only does he have an in depth knowledge but he is also a top bloke as well.

However you last paragrapgh is complete bollocks.

I have agreed with what you have stated with regards to Woodhall's talents and personality, I will state again he is a top man.

But your statement in your last para was total bollocks in my view. I have no problems in explaining why. Firstly I believe Woodhalls job role was way too expansive and gave far much too scope, I state this because as you have already stated Woodhalls talents lay within the gym training fighters and giving them the benefit of his expansive experience and advice.

However, the job given to Woodhall was not one in which he was working one on one with the fighters or a team and that is why I believe he moved.

In addition he is doing a very good job for Radio and Setanta TV when he is on there.

To be fair, his old man is/was a coach, so I think Woodhall has a little more knowledge than most boxers when it comes to coaching.

Not saying that will make him a great coach, but he shouldn't be so easily dismissed.

So does that mean that no boxers should become coaches because they don't know anything??
While not all boxers are necessarily suited for coaching, there are many many ex boxers who have become great trainers, and the indications in the gym are that Woodhall is excellent

Coco never said Boxers dont make Tainers. Its a different field He is going into,different aptitudes are reqiured. I had a great coach teach me, but I served 20 years in the Amatuers before going Pro. Time well spent learning when the two sides of the game were simular. Now they are not, but I will say the coaches employed by the ABA no there stuff and are good listeners

No reason why Woodhall, with all of his experience, can not be a very good pro trainer.

He seems to be an intelligent guy that will learn much about the intricacies of the game bringing young amateurs through from scratch.

I'm certain that he realises the difference between amateurs and pro, through his own experience, and hope he has a bit of flexibility about the template in which his fighters will have to inevitably come through.

I was an Amatuer coach until 44 didnt Box 20 years thougth it felt like it.
