RJ is bigger and faster than Hopkins and look how much success Hopkins had with his pot shotting right hand.

I see a close exciting fight with JC pulling it out in the last 3 rounds for a UD.

Jones will certainly get the chance to counter with the straight right - that could be Calzaghe's downfall. I still think he'll win a UD.

Jones is faster and naturally bigger than JC, this should be a great fight!


Always thought JC would have the best chance of beating a prime RJJ, In think he beats this version but it won't be easy!

Jones is going to sit back like Hopkins did. I think this fight's 60/40 in favour of Joe because he's going to be made to miss and he's going to be countered a lot. If Jones' reflexes are still there to a degree then Joe will struggle. I actually think it will be another close one with Joe nicking it on solely work rate - it's interesting.

RJJ UD for me... I think (and hope) he might turn back time a little in this fight

I'd give anything to see one more RJJ masterclass....

RJJs stamina is shot to shit he doesn't move or punch anything like enough and is pretty easy to outwork, hes also lost his power. He still has supernatural speed but this is sporadic. I'd like to see RJJ pull it off but I see a 8-4 Calazage decision writen all over the fight, RJJ just doesnt have the lungs for this 1, hope Im proven wrong

Conteh was god, but not that good!

A prime RJ would beat Conteh and Calzaghe on the same night.

On his day, a disciplined Conteh was a massive talent. He had speed, power, accuracy. Over 15 rds, RJJ would not exactly enjoy himself.

He was a great fighter, but he wasn't in the same league as a prime Roy Jones Jr.

Though if we're talking 15 rounds it would have been closer, I agree it wouldn't have been much fun, though nobody said it would be.

Interesting that some on here and on Current Scene are picking RJJ to win.

I assume then we all think that RJJ is a good opponent and will not slag JC off if/when he wins at a canter!

I agree with this. RJJ will probably make JC look foolish a couple of times, but, overall, Cal's workrate will see him take a wide UD. If Roy looks competitive at times, I wouldn't be surprised to see a rematch - which would only be to the benefit of the fighters. After the BHOP-JC fight, RJJ said he and Joe should have two fights, one in the US and one in the UK, one at 175 and the other at 168. Maybe that's why Joe wants to retain his WBO bauble for now? The retirement tour could drag on for quite some time.

I see it as a lose lose situation for Joe wheerby its a win-lose situation for Jones

It's a shame we didn't get to see Roy take on any elite level 175 lbers in their primes.

There are a lot of light heavyweights in history who wouldn't have been at all in awe of Roy, and who were physically much more imposing. Qawi, Spinks, Moorer, Foster and Moore to name just a few.

Foster had the power and skill to have knocked Jones cold, and Qawi was a human milling machine. Moorer was fast, awkward, and immensely powerful, one of the hardest hitting 175 lb fighters ever, Spinks was just the same.

Moore was one of the most savvy fighters ever, and packed a heavyweights punch.

Roy was an awesome fighter, but he was better at 168 and had he stayed there, he would probably have retired undefeated.
