Back in the day, did Lennox Lewis bugger about, mincing about every potential risk fight out there on the domestic scene?
Did he pissfart and agonise over who he was going to fight all the time?
While Khan is still raw and makes mistakes, Lennox was a clumsy bugger in his early pro years. Yet nothing stopped him from fighting Mason, McCrory, Derek Williams and stopping them all.
I think I'd rather see Fewkes go his own way & the fight with Gethin should be worth watching.

The offer was actually £40k, don't know where £30k came from.

average fight really.
fewkes is just a decent little boxer.
styles wise i just don't see it for him against khan.
khan has better skills.
so he loses in that department.
murray-fewkes would be a better style match up.
boxer vs slugger.
gives fewkes a bit more chance in that one.
even though i'd also make murray favourite.

And why doesn't Fewkes take the short end of the purse?
Surely if he was to pull off the win, he would be on his way to much bigger financial success. Not enough boxers take their chance when it offered in this country.

Yeah but it's not much of an offer, not when Fewkes is a hot prospect who can have a nice career outside of Khan.

Aye, I've just had it 'reconfirmed' that it was 30k. Regardless, 40k is short.
Let's hope in a year's time it's a much bigger fight and Fewkes gets 100k!

id fight him now if i were fewkes, whats he got to lose, he gets paid 30k will be the underdog and a loss against khan wont effect his career that much but a win on the other hand would rocket him to fame and some decent pay days.
Khan is vulnerable at this moment but will only improve over time, his defense will get better meaning less chance to tickle that glass chin of his.
Go on Fewkes what you got to lose?

It would be a career high purse for Fewkes, I can't see what he has to lose.
He may never be offered as much again in his career.
If Rhodes was confident of his man winning surely he'd grab the chance

If that's how much you get offered for fighting the "biggest name in British boxing", then what is the point?

Why not fight now, why wait a year???
Delaying an obvious fight to 'build it up' is absolute bullshit and is a very dangerous tactic. There have been too many occasions where fights have been delayed with this intention only for something to happen which ultimately means the fight never takes place.
The nature of boxing means that in all probability the interest and credibility in this fight, and the opportunity to make the fight that currently exists will not be the same 12 months from now (e.g. the interest will be less and the opportunity gone).
Seize the day Fewkes lad - have some faith, the big paydays will follows if you do Khan

Fewkes isn't worth 75k, either he is pricing himself out or it is just a negotiating ploy. At the moment 40k is about right for him.
Either that he has to bank on getting a domestic title and maybe he will be worth more down the line

If Feewkes had reached the point where He wasnt getting Better yes take it. At the start He was playing at it, not anymore He is developing into a very good Fighter. On the occastions Ive visited the gym Ive been very impressed with his developement Glyns doing a great job with the kid He knows what He is doing. Plus Johns a big ticket seller.

I take that back then, if he can sell the tickets he may be worth more

I agree. £30k is a huge deposit on a house, especially in today's market. Fewkes has nothing to lose as he's the under dog. Personally I thnk John's a dark horse in that domestic division.
