PHILADELPHIA (July 31, 2008)—As 2008 winds down and head into the fall months, heavyweight, “Fast” Eddie Chambers is looking for bigger & better things to close out the year and get right back in the mix of the elite in the division.


Team Chambers which consists of Manager/Trainer, Rob Murray Sr., co-Promoter Rob Murray Jr. of Score America, Dan Goossen and Eddie himself have thrown down the gauntlet and want to fight anyone & everyone in attempt to win the heavyweight championship of the world.


Chambers is coming off an explosive sixth round stoppage over Rapheal Butler in The Cayman Islands on June 20th feels left out as other less-deserving heavyweight’s have been getting opportunities.


“One loss and he is forgotten” said Murray Jr. “We were watching an ESPN-2 show a few weeks ago and they mentioned that Brian Minto & Kevin Johnson were two of the top five American Heavyweights but Eddie’s name wasn’t on the list. Come on now, Minto couldn’t hit Eddie with a handful of rice.”


The elder Murray agreed and the longtime Philadelphia boxing man has some lofty praise for Chambers, “I started Bernard Hopkins and I managed (former Super Middleweight champion) Steve Little and Eddie has more natural talent than anyone I have managed.”


“We want to fight anyone, anywhere.”


Chambers, 31-1 with seventeen knockouts is looking to fight only the best competition. “I see guys like Ruiz, Valuev, Toney & Barrett getting opportunity after opportunity and that shuts out guys like me who lost one fight that I know I could have and should have won.” Said, the world ranked Chambers.


“I see a guy like David Haye is coming to heavyweight and already talking like he is something kind of special. I would love to be opposite of you when you make that heavyweight debut in England and you will be shocked that you aren’t even close to being the best and fastest in the ring that night.”

Hasn't that fat tub of lard already been exposed as a front runner v Alexander Povetkin?

Cant we melt down Chambers, Dominic Guinn, Calvin Brock and Tony Thompson and mesh them all together so that we can have just the one passive, boring soft-punching no hope US 'contender'?

it would be dangerous for eddie to 'fast'...he should have a decent diet and nutrition programme conbined with some serious gym work.

Think chambers is shit... but the fact remains David Haye has a date comming up and no "top 10" opponent to fight yet.

We can laugh at chambers but bet you whoeevr he figts wont be as good

Haye needs to announce his opponenet. I hope he aint going the 2 weeks notice route that SN used to perfect over the years. His opponent should have good notice to get in shape

Cant see what the delay is to be honest. I think his match up will be SN-esque. Alot of spin about the quality but in relaity a pushover which will tell us nothing about his title aspirations

I think that rahman has fallen through as has Maskaev but haye needs to get someone quick, don't think he is doing it malitiously though.

I actually think Chambers would represent a good test for Haye at this stage of his heavyweight campaign and given his apparent willingness I'd be disappointed if this didn't happen only for Haye to face inferior opposition...

He is rated 22nd by the WBC so offers less than the Bonnin fight did, even if Haye can't get a top 10 fighter I'd expect it to be someone higher ranked than that.

It depends on your definition of "offers less", if you're talking purely in terms of rankings then it's fair comment, but if you're talking about getting a good benchmark as to how Haye can and will perform in the higher weight division then to my mind Chambers fits the bill and represents a tougher test than many of those ranked above him.

Haye has been talking up Rahman again according to some websites, now that the Toney v Rahman fight has been changed to a N/C , would still make Rahman rated in top 10.

Accidental butt caused the cut. Although Rahman did not even wait to be seen by his cutsman. He quit at the first sign of trouble. Rules are rules, even though he did look like he had pulled himself out of there.

Ah fair enough forgoott it was stopped on cuts. If he fights like a passerfist against Haye like he did against Toney then he'll get mullared. Would be happy with the fight though.

Considering how Toneys right hands were wobbling Rahman, selecting him now to me would be a bit of a cynical exercise by Haye -- obviously not looking to test himself against the best of the best.

Still think Monte Barrett is better with a PR win over Fields to trade off.

Though if Fast Eddie were British there'd be plenty talking up his World title aspirations.

I wouldn't put a lot of dough on any current homegrown HW beating both Guinn and Brock.

I think Haye needs a proper heavyweight though, and Haye - promoter, fighter, whatever - seems like he's struggling badly to secure a opponent who will come to London.

As a heavyweight 1st step Rahman isn't too bad. I think the 1st fight is for a high rating, and the next fight maybe an elim, or a hard test.

The fight is slated for 15-11-08.
Why do you need to know the opponent now ?
That's just not how boxing works, and you all know it.
Tell me the last time any UK Promotor went public with a venue, date, opponent, and press conference 13 weeks in advance.
I can't recall one.
