However, probably the most gracious interview ever!!!

Just seen the interview with Kenny Egan, have to say he showed great sportsmanship in it, never really moaned or griped about the decision, praised his opponent.

Think he's shown he's a top guy there.

Yeah, what a guy, far better than I would have been.

Just hope he goes pro, I think hes quality

Egan did well to hold back but I'm sure he's pretty pissed off.
Again the judging was poor but it's not that different from many pro shows where the hometown fighter gets the advantage.

Well I certainly never intended for tht to come across as racist so I wholeheartedly apologise for any offence caused, if I was being racist I wouldnt have used the word Chink which isnt a racist term and the peasant comment was in referance to the officials being simple and self motivated..

I hope that clears that up, if we go through the Anthony Small thread where you were saying he shouldnt use Muslim chanting as a ring entrance, then proceeded to show an Jihad video, believe it or not with Muslim chanting(the fact its just a religious chant seemed not to register with you) you will find that it was me and Terry D who were the most left wing, anti-racist, anti-sterotyping people on here.

Just watched it. Scandalous judging.

It was a close fight but there had to be at least half a dozen shots that Egan landed cleanly enough to have registered if you take into consideration what produced points for Zhang.

I read the part in that wikipedia article where it said that 'chinky' is still used as a term used to describe chinese food, I think we can all agree thats what I meant, there are other words I would have used if I was a nob and intended to use an ethnic slur!!

I've never quite understood why its fine to call an Australian an Aussie and not ok to call a Pakistani a Paki for example? (not that I do).

I remember Nasser Hussain describing the Pakistanis as the 'pakis' in a press conferance, caused grief but I would hardly consider Nasser a racist, just shows you have to be careful as whats normal to one person can be offensive to another...and as stated I didnt consider chink to be a racist term, as you said, just slang, a shortening of the word chinaman!!

I suggest you stop digging right now. So you were referring to Chinese food and not Chinese people??

I would have thought anyone not living in a tiny village without any ethnic diversity, tv and newspapers would know what terms for foreigners are mostly used as insults and what weren't.

Hometown biased judging is just a fact of boxing all you can do is express sympathy and leave it at that.

Using the term in anger is surely not a smart move...however tempting it might be.

That said, the Chinese have cheated their way to the top of the medals table IMO, and the whole world has stood idly by in awe of impending Chinese dominance.

Yes all this very correct discussion comes down to one thing. Did Egan get robbed/jobbed or did he have or didn't have a chink in his performance? 8)

As for non scoring points. i recall Degale getting some highly suspicious points in the final. Those biased duded Neily and Wodhall said about one point, ''not sure that should have have scored, but we'll take it'', let want to show righteous indignation when they perceive an injustice in other bouts

Chinky was a term for food, chink a term for the person...although im bored arguing my point, where I come from it isnt seen as racist..one of my best mates is lad a called Andy Lau, and he has no problems with it, now two other words would cause great offence and would never be uttered by me....

Now lets talk about Boxing please, it doesnt seem too much to ask, i started by apologising and will end by apologising for any offence caused...

It wasn't just the boxing that was judged unfairly. Any event that was subjective went the way of the Chinese athletes. Kenny Egan won that fight, thats just a fact, that outcome was a travesty and the judges should be ashamed of themselves for bowing to the pressure from the Chinese cos that was what was happening in nearly every event. Let's just see how well the Chinese boxers get on in London 2012. That final was a joke and I knew before it had even begun that the Chinese guy would win because of the judging which defied logic! Egan should have went in there with a view to knocking this guy out instead of being so cautious cos that was the only way he was going to win.

i agree with the Judging being a mess, which why i was glad that the Italian stopped his Chinese Opponent in the final.

You English & other westerners just don't realize that many of the Chinese judges are well versed in the art of Invisible Fist Gung Fu. You see, Chinese boxers are trained so well that only a true master can see their punches land, and the punches cause devestating injury, only several years later.
