Warren said its not every Khan fight but..........

I doubt all Khan fights will be ppv, I'm guessing this will be a pretty big failure and they really should of hyped the Scotland(Arthur) v England(Cook) 'World title' fight to try and help sell it. But it seems they've gone with this 'Khan joins the legends' angle which is trying to sell off Khan and Khan alone with little mention of opponent.

SKY have always had adds between rounds for their ppv's, there was nothing new about that. There will be adds for this too I bet.

I can see Khan fighting duck eggs on PPV for the next 2-3 years, the under cards will feature the rest of Warrens big names.
Sky and Warren are banking(no irony intended) On Khan already being a household name, its being sold as an event - in a kind of wool over the eyes way to the masses.
It might make Warren and sky money in the short term, but its bad for boxing because it marginalises the sport in the long run.

however, i cannot see this PPV bombing like you all think, i dont no the figures but i reckon it will outsell Hatton v Mauusa/Urganotang type cards & shite like WWE Royal Rumble which are all repeatedly sold on PPV

I honestly don't think it will as I just can't see how Khan has a fanbase remotely approaching Hatton's. Does anyone know how well his shows have sold in terms of attendance as I'm sure I read somewhere that a couple have struggled to shift tickets - if that is the case it tells you something...

i dont think you can go off just attendance, my gran who is 80 has watches Khan and has never heard of Hatton, she doesnt go watchin either at the arena, the money is in Arm chair fans, not football hooli wannabees

sky aint daft they would have put this on boxoffice without some serious market research

I have almost EVERY PPV from 1996 (the second Tyson Holy fight).

NO adds were in between the rounds of the main events until Hatton Mayweather in 2008 I believe. NO ADDS AT ALL, do you watch boxing?

Seriously though, I don't normally waste money on ppv(why would you ?) so the last one I ordered before Hatton v Mayweather was Hatton v Tszyu and before that Tyson v Lewis. However I seem to remember there being adds during the Hatton-Tszyu fight. Suppose I could be wrong.



You actually paid for Hatton v Haussa and Hatton v Collazo ?,

Supposing Khan gets knocked-out on one of these PPV jaunts? I'm sure there'd be a lot of disappointed non-viewers in such an event.

Of course you can't go purely off attendance, but it's still one highly quantifiable measure of a fighter's popularity that you'd use when you're trying to gauge the appetite for this sort of thing.
As for Sky, of course they will have conducted market research, but as anyone in this field will tell you, it's not an exact science. The whole point of PPV is that it potentially alienates 'armchair fans' like your nan who would have been happy to watch him on free-to-air, but don't feel passionate enough about him to shell out £15.
I also think it's a gross error to assume Hatton's popularity lies purely in the 'football hooli wannabees' - his unparallleled success is down to a personna that the average man in the street feels he can relate to. Khan will never be able to replicate this.

No Idea, possibly on a TV nah couldn't tell you, but I still reckon Frank will try to keep Khan as PPV from here on in, I can;'t get over the number of people paying for it, my Dad doesnt have sky and wants to come here to watch it, when I told him I wasnt paying for it he said I'll pay sure (and he is tight with his cash) £15 on Khan, I laughed and offered to DL and deliver the next morning but he is insistant he wants to watch it live and will pay.
