I say Lopez beats him with a close unanimous decision.
Thoughts?

Lopez had all the tools to beat Calderon. Ivan struggled with Cazares and Finito was quicker, about as powerful, and more skilled and coordinated. I'd say Lopez wins a wide decision over his much smaller foe, Lopez was a magnificent boxer and had pretty much every attribute you could want in a fighter.

I agree Lopez beats Calderon. Lopez was one of the most technically perfect fighters I've ever seen.
The way you beat Calderon is to limit his movement in the ring and force him to fight. Speed wise, Calderon is faster, but Lopez hits harder and has much more ring savvy.

No doubt, Calderon would've been the faster fighter, but Lopez was no slouch in the speed department either.
Finito's slight deficit in speed would have been more than made up for by a HUGE edge in punching power from all angles. And though Calderon easily out-maneuvered a few big punchers, they didn't have the skills of Finito.
And Finito wasn't your typical flat-footed Mexican with two left feet that Calderon would normally eat up with his great lateral movement. The Mexican great was an artist at cutting the ring off.
Finito by UD.

Calderon has never faced anyone near the skill level of a Finito Lopez. Ricardo would figure Ivan out after the firts couple of rds and talke him out with a beautiful uppercut left hook ala Kitchaie Preecha style.
