One thing that has been omitted from the posts are the crowds reactions to both Prescott and Khan.

Upon entry into the ring, Prescott received resounding boos as you would expect, with only a few people being brave enough to applaud. Khan received a mixed welcome. The majority of people appeared to be true Khan fans, cheering him rapturously as he entered the ring. However, there was a low rumbling of boos around the arena too.

When Khan eventually hit the canvas, I was one of the few people who were pleased to see him go down as I felt he had it coming. I could not contain myself and leapt from my seat applauding and cheering Prescott. People looked at me disgusted and I am sure my husband was convinced he was going to get a pasting for my behaviour.

However, my initial pleasure soon changed to concern for Khan and I was relieved to see him rise to his feet.

When Khan then left the ring, there were audible boos from around the arena, probably from the some of the same people who cheered him not ten minutes previously.

Prescott received cheers and whoops from the crowd as he left the arena. A stark shift from the reception he also received from the same crowd a few minutes ago.

The fickleness of the crowd was remarkable and very disappointing. Whilst I was not a Khan supporter, he was treated very unfairly by his fair weather fans.

I feel truly sorry for Khan. A young impressionable lad, misled by piers and corrupted by money. Not taking anything away from the kid, but the majority of his success is a result of excellent match-making and marketing.

I hope Amir reflects upon the events of the past 24 hours and that his defeat was not in vain.

How about the Audley Harrison fight earlier? Loads of boos for opponent at the start, which changed to resounding cheers for him at the end. Very fickle.

I concur completely. A Farce was pathetic. At least it provided an opportunity to get a drink from the bar. :)

Are you sure they weren't just booing Audley, whenever he is on the telly I feel like throwing it out the window.

Same here. I watched one round of the 'fight', then went to get a few pints down me.

Though to be fair, it was just as likely it was the fans who were booing him in, doing the same on his way out, rather than his fans suddenly switching over. Don't often see that in the UK, we love a good loser!

The most entertaining aspect of the Audley fight, were the countless opportunities to roast him with withering comments. My missus was pissing herself laughing at me and my mate slagging him off.

She summed him up perfectly "He's f+++ing shit!"

Audley is the most delusional fighter I can recall seeing. At 36 and 8 years as a pro, he hasn't even got as far as British Title let alone European level, he's been brutally KO'd by a fighter who is domestic level, and is booed to the rafters every time he fights, and yet he still seems to think he can go 'all the way.'

The fact that allegedly didn't even bother to come over when they interviewed Harrison spoke volumes. Audley is a complete waste of effort and time for a promoter, he has zero appeal to the average fan, aside from an opportunity to exercise their lungs in booing him.

I agree completely. However, when Khan left the arena and was on the walkway back to the changing rooms, so called fans were stood up, goading him, pointing at him and being quite hostile towards him.

Very sad to see indeed.

Fans also like a trier - like in the instance of George v's Audley. There was a David and Goliath scenario if ever I saw one!

It was hilarious when they embraced at the end of the fight, the geezer needed a frigging boost up to reach Audley's shoulder.

Well that's terrible if true, real morons. Thank god I went out of my way to miss the Aud fight as well...and the AAA one too. My local had the PPV malarky on, so we stopped for the Khan fight..then left 2 mins later.

Overheard on a Manchester street once. Some kid admonishing someone who had just insulted him. "I'm not a pakeh...I'm half a pakeh!"

As for Khan being insulted and booed...let me defend some of those people who you might be terming 'fair weather fans'. Since 2004 this lad has been saying he's on his way to the top and had shown little respect for his opponent here too. We (and they) have had to endure several media outlets saying it's inevitable he's going to be a world champ when we knew all along it wasn't going to be that easy.

So, people stump up a lot of money for a ticket/accommodation, etc...and are rewarded with a completely inept performance lasting less than a minute.

Perhaps after shelling out to see a shellacking (on the wrong side), their expensive mistake might have resulted in some anger.

I knew a Turkish bus driver who was sick of being called a Paki. I think you have to blame the media first for hyping Khan into a star, they convinced the public Khan was the second comming of Naz which he clearly isnt. Khan made himself very unpopular with some, with his lack of respect for other British boxers and his lack of respect for other road users. He believed he was unbeatable, was over confident, and underestimated Limond, Gomez and Prescott in particular who all dropped him. Every boxer has to have belief in himself but in the extreme it can be your downfall as it has been with Khan. Froch is another who will take a huge tumble very soon I feel. As for the "fans" they can fall in and out of love even quicker than the wind can change direction. Only the true fan will stand by thier man.
