Like every Ron Howard film, including one he made of the most hairaising moments in space travel (Apollo 13), there is absolutly no tension in the film. I did no tlike as it also potrayed Max Baer as a brute like Clubber Laing.

I watched it, kept skipping to Bravehearth battle scenes on CH4, however, I'd go along with comments - no tension and the potrayal of Baer was, as far as I've read, way short of accurate.
Funny seeing Angelo Dundee in there too.
And the story perhaps has too many echos of Balboa without a ounce of suspense over the result.
Looking forward to Spike Lee's Joe Louis film far more.
