This is a real cracker, I realise styles might not gell and its not the one punch fiasco that we saw last week but this is a real quality British match up for me.

Barnes seemed to be approaching some of his old form against Morrison, I think the confidence is coming back, it seemed to be missing a bit against Bami.

Lynes on the other hand will feel justifiably aggrieved he is not the holder of the European crown still following the close loss to Branco.

How do we see this one going chaps?

My initial thoughts were to favour Lynes reasonably strongly but whilst still thinking he wins the fight, the Barnes who destroyed Hare a few years ago would make it very interesting.

Could Barnes style be awkward for Colin, I think it could, I am not sure Lynes will be able to establish the jab which is the tool, which all his work is founded on.

If Barnes can make him miss with a lot of his early work, this could be very close indeed.

Really looking forward to it, just hope both boys stay injury and illness free, not always been the case for both of these two.

Good match-up, as you say it depends on which Barnes shows up, but Barnes would have to be on tip-top form to beat Lynes IMO. Lynes UD

Surprised matchroom won the purse bids for this. Thought Hayemaker would have won it with the money they're reported to be throwing around. Don't they look after Barnes now? Good fight but I fancy Lynes to outwork Barnes. He'll make Barnes fight at a pace he's not comfortable with.

nice to see the best brits fighting each other for a change,imo lynes will have all the tools to nullify barnes s work . barnes has taken a long while to try and impress, this is his chance so should be good, i cannot believe he will beat lynes,who will be wanting another crack at the euro belt should he win this,with witter mandatory for branco who knows could see lynes/witter2

If Witter doesn't win the purse bids, I think Branco will beat him.

i hear this is now on dec5 in dagenham home advantage a bonus for lynes,although he would win werever it was imo

Lynes, Lynes Lynes no probs. Barnes is an improved fighter but not good enough to beat Lynes who is on top form. I loved James Hare really great lad and still only 32. Dont know why but after his first loss he was never the same again, maybe his confidence went. He only fought two good fighters IMO and one of them was Barnes, just not good enough for the top British level. Beating Hare for me doesnt mean Barnes is anything special. Lynes will win very comfortably, I see no other result.

Is it on the Dean v Marsh undercard?

I think Lynes by late stoppage or close decision. Barnes is quick and flashy enough that he may well dominate the first three to five rounds but Lynes is the stronger man, wastes very little, and will get to him both mntally and physically as the fight goes on. He doesn't have to deal with Italian judges this time, remember!

Could be a snooze fest but Barnes' extra power could prove to be the difference.

Matchroom won the purse be on sky. I think Lynes will win he did beat Branco imo

Then came a surprise draw with Namibian Ali Nummbembe and a bad beating at the hands of Ghana's Joshua Okine, after which David was stripped of his welterweight title and dropped down a weight. He came back slowly - at times it was a crawl - but the wins over Bami and Morrison showed the 27-year-old Barnes can still turn on the style. Okine remains the only man to beat him in 26 outings.
Lynes can equally turn on the style but comes off a surprise, disputed points defeat in Italy to Gianluca Branco, which cost him his European light-welterweight title. Given the Dagenham man only gave up the British title to concentrate on Branco, he will feel aggrieved at the turn of events and will certainly want his old British title back. Classy Colin sets a hot pace and possesses a great jab, as he showed against Young Mutley in Wolverhampton last year. He jabbed Mutley to a standstill before finishing the West Bromwich man with a big left hook in round eight. That won him the European title.
To the action. Barnes is smart and savvy, with quick hands, and this could be desperately tight, but the 30-year-old Lynes, who once nearly beat Junior Witter, looks a bit more 'rounded', a bit stronger and is fighting better than ever.
He comes on strong to snatch a decision.

good post, ime not a fan of barnes since jimmy vincent beat him(imo) strangely at the same venue only for barnes to get hotly disputed verdict, i think colin lynes will win comfortably, a shame these fights take so long to put together.
