A sad shame and misfortune that Roldan got thumbed in the 3rd Round.

This bout based on the first 2 rounds and 2-1/2 minutes of the 3rd until the thumb found it's mark with 30 seconds left in that round, had the makings of an unforgettable clash of epic proportions.

Roldan was slipping most of the punches Hagler threw at em until the thumb and especially after that poor eye of his closed up and thus left him not able to see Hagler's Lefts pummeling in on em.

The rest of the segments are all on the same channel btw....Enjoy...and realistically evaluate and analyze as well.

Am a fan of both fighters. Was a pretty amazing, even fight until the thumb, but I wonder if Roldan could have kept throwing bombs for 12 rounds. With or without the eye-closing, Hagler might have eventually worn him down.

This was the first fight I ever saw of Hagler, had it on VHS as part
of the old Superbouts series. I loved the pre fight build up on that
tape, on Roldan and Hagler.

Roldan did a damned good job in this fight.

Hagler was staring to slip at that time, right after the Duran fight. Roldan did look good and gave Marv Prob's (the thumb if it happened, was certainly not intentional). Either way hags would have found the range and stopped Roldan. Though his best times were past.

Everytime someone points out just how shitty Hagler was in the boxing department.....they always say he was past his prime or on the downward slide, and now, " his best times were past."..... blah, blah, blah.......    ....I guess he was on the down side when he drew with Antuofermo.

Hagler fans are pathetic. :-?

Was his knock down of Hagler a slip/stepping on toes, or legitimate?

I think the KD was more of a slip-trip than an actual KD.

There really isn't anything you can say to that.
