Johnson is a perfectly good foe for Haye, the american is ambitious, has decent skills.
The only problem i can see is if american TV don't want it, as it won't help promote Haye over there if his face isn't seen.
Johnson has stunk out a couple of times when he was on TV, so the execs might not want to pay for that.

I feel sure, instinctively, that Rahman, Toney, Maskaev or Golota will get the nod.

And I still think Rahman or Maskaev would be the preferred mroe obvious choices.

Rahman looked very chinny v Toney, Golota is a waste of time, good choices would be Monte Barrett or Oleg Maskaev right now. James Toney a very ambitious match, too tricky.

He's ranked 7th with the WBA.
In regards to American TV, HBO have a big card for the 15th of November so you're looking at Showtime.

I understand hes ranked 7th, its just when British TV and papers try to explain why hes highly ranked; hes not beaten one name with the exception of unranked 42 year old Bruce Seldon.

Julio looked like a killer prior to fighting Quintana. Somewhat exposed since then but he could still do well at Light Middle.

but with the scene as it is at HW the mediocre guys kind of get shifted forward in the pecking order.

It would be an ok opponent by this token, the 'top' guys are either not interested or eating doughnuts or something.


Is this a better, more motivated, challenging guy than an old, bored maskaev for instance? i think so but I dunno, who cares, etc.

When /if Haye sparks him/someone I'll take an interest, maybe.

After opponent announcement. Doors open at 8 apparently, well according to a tout site, so presumably will be on US TV.

This opponent is not good enough. If Haye faces this opponent then he should keep his mouth shut from now on, the way he has been going on I expected a genuine top 10 opponent.

I really hope it is not this guy.

I was expecting a bigger name like Rahman or Maskaev but to be honest Johnson
is probably a more live opponent than those two, who lets be honest are way past there primes
where as johnson is reaching his.

He is a top ten ranked heavyweight, no7 by the WBC, and he is 6ft5 and has a very good jab,
the only disappointment is the guy isnt a concussive puncher, but then again, im sure he
hits hard enough to hurt Haye if he lands a decent enough punch.

The main thing is, Johnson is ambitious and will be coming to win and he is in his prime.

But still, Haye to win by the obvious KO.
