Guzman heavy!
By Damien St. Pierre at the scale
At today's weigh-in in Biloxi, IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight Nate Campbell originally weighed 135.2 pounds, then made the 135-pound limit even just thity minutes later. Challenger Joan Guzman was originally 138.5 pounds and has two hours to take off 3.5 pounds. Stay tuned. In the other title fight, WBC 140lb champ Tim Bradley was originally 140.3 and made 139.8 an hour later. Challenger Edner Cherry weighed 139.2 on the first try.

I am so great - I praise myself.

3 out of 4 fighters not making the weight on the first attempt there. Strange.

Clearly the scales were from Woolworths and the same ones that told me I have put on a stone in the last year. Clearly.

Guzman fails to make weight!

Joan Guzman did not come back to the scale by the prescribed time, and therefore never made the 135-pound limit for Saturday night's lightweight title clash against IBF/WBA/WBO champion Nate Campbell. It appears at this time that the fight will go on but Campbell's titles, of course, would not be on the line.
Guzman didn't get to the scales until about 20 minutes after the weigh-in had already started. He stepped on the scales at 138.5 and never returned. A lot of press and officials hung around for the two hours that Guzman had to make weight. Guzman never came back, and no one ever said anything. Finally a DKP staff member just came and took the scale down. The Mississippi commision then stated that Guzman could not make weight, but the fight would still go on and that they would allow Campbell to defend the titles (but Guzman could not win the belts). The commission and members of both camps went into a private meeting to decide what money would go where as far as fines, purse percentages, etc.

WTF?

Everytime Guzman moves up in weight, he struggles to make the weight. Something seriously wrong here, either that or he has a friggin' chimp as his nutritionist.

This is very dissapointing, I can't imagine Mayweather Senior is going to let him slack in the gym, but It is hard to see how else this could happen, he only moved up a little while ago, and he's shot through four weight divisions in a few years.

Its odd, especially as Guzman looked to have a very low body fat in his last 3. I was very disapointed, this was supposed to be Guzmans moment of greatness, now he might be banned for a year, meaning his career maybe over

Guzman weight troubles was noted @ 122 by the ring mag, but I thought Guzman would be able to
make weight though.

Guzman's possibly the most talented active fighter in the world today. He also appears to be the most ill-disciplined and lazy. Such a shame. He's almost like Mayweather without the dedication and calorie caontrol.
