Campbell vs Guzman is off!
Saturday, September 13 2008
The lightweight title fight between Nate Campbell and Joan Guzman is now officially off. Guzman is said to not be well enough to fight due to a health situation attributed to attempting to make weight. The commission doctor confirmed that Guzman was severely dehydrated and unable to go. Another source said Guzman was back and forth all day today before finally making the decision himself not to fight. The WBC super lightweight clash between Timothy Bradley and Edner Cherry will now be the main event and will be televised on tonight's SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast.
At least we get a fight!

calling Bradley 'Shit' is very harsh. His defense is top drawer and he has a punch. That knock down was class.

Bradley bombs Cherry!
By Damien St. Pierre at ringside
Unbeaten WBC super lightweight champion Timothy Bradley (23-0, 11 KOs) successfully defended his world title for the first time with a twelve round unanimous decision over #6 rated Edner Cherry (24-6-2, 12 KOs) in a very entertaining fight on Saturday night at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Cherry connected early in round one, but champion began control the bout with sharp, quick punches. Cherry landed a good left hook in the fourth round, but Bradley simply outboxed and outpunched Cherry, finally dropping Cherry in round eight with a huge right hand. Bradley dominated until the eleventh when Cherry landed a clean right hand. Both fighters let their hands go, throwing big shots in the twelfth. Scores were 117-110, 118-109, 119-109. On a side note, the WBC eventually relented and agreed to accept the scoring of the judges assigned by the Mississippi Commission.

He just said that Bradley needs to get on Boxrec/Doghouse to boost his chances of a fight with Hatton/Malignaggi
He's smashed.

Did the Setanta show the Bradley fight when live full......cause I was "recording" but switched on the TV at 2:45 and it was in round 5.
Anyone tape the full show of this (the live one) cause somehow my HDD recorder can never record setanta 2.

I thought Bradley looked OK, and I enjoyed the fight. A class above Witter which is why he has the belt. Cant understand why anyone would think he is shite.

Supposedly Bradley is facing Ortiz next, who looks very tasty himself looking like a more dynamic Cotto

otiz looked good sat night..very controlled for a young man of 21.
I missed prizefighter but get all the US ppv's for free out here....enjoyed the marquez casa card on sat.....of which Victor looked very handy.
Compare him to Amir and you can just see he is amore well rounded, schooled type of fighter, no wailing away with pitty pat punches with his chin in the air. Picks his shots and hits hard with both hands. Totally dismantled the argentinian chap bit by bit, very controlled performance.
He actually is a right handed southpaw as well if you didnt know.
he could beat bradley ...good fight.

Witter could easily get back to the no1 WBC spot. Olgesun is ranked well with the WBC (around 5 I think) and I have an incling Lovemore Ndou is too. I dont see why Hennessy cant get those fights on for the Froch undercard, but he has opted for the lower ranked Lauri hasnt he?
Bradley is proving tough to beat, Ill look forward to the Ortiz fight.
Edit - sorry I meant Branco not Lauri. Here is the WBC top 10
1 .- Devon Alexander (US) AMERICA
2 .- Junior Witter (GB)
3 .- Ajose Olusegun (Nigeria) ABU/COMM
4 .- Francisco Figueroa (US) NABF
5 .- Jungbum Kim (Korea) OPBF
6 .- Edner Cherry (Bahamas)
7 .- Randall Bailey (US) LATINO
8 .- Cesar Cuenca (Argentina)
9 .- Gianluca Branco (Italy) EBU
10 .- Demetrius Hopkins (US)
Witter may not win a rematch, but people counting him out are over-reacting. The sanctioning bodies always look favourably on their former champions and I wont be suprised if Witter is made mandatory soon.
