Does anyone know much about this new movie
that is coming out?

It also has Brad Pitt in the flick. "The Fighter"
its about Ward's early boxing career.

apparently the movie has been in the pipeline for a long long time.

darren aronofskys gonna direct it and yes pitt is also in it along with cameos from ward himself and gatti. apparently shooting starts this month in boston but to be honest i'll believe it when i see it.

i think its gonna be some sort of gritty drama focusing more on wards younger days growing up in boston and how he came thru tough times etc.

B level actor/B level fighter.

Seems a good match.

It will be good if all the mooted parties follow through, I've read Walhberg has been training, around other projects, for two years.

Pitt of course has assimilated history in the field with Fight Club and Snatch.

I preferred the notion of Matt Damon to Pitt as I rate him higher as a character actor.

Likewise. Marky Mark has always sounded a little camp to me, in terms of tough guy roles I think he fails the medical.

This was also in Current Scene. My question is, why a movie about Mickey Ward?

Damon originally was scheduled to play Ecklund, but had to pull out so Pitt took over. I think it's in pre-production and shooting starts in Boston this month.

Wahlberg isn't a bad actor and he already has the Massachusetts (Dorchester) accent so it wont be forced. I look forward to this movie. I know it is supposed to be about Ward's early career but I wonder if the Gatti fights or Agustus fight will be a part of it?
