Calzaghe's purse for the Jones fight.

Does anyone have any ideas' for Joe's purse is for the Jobes fight. I have heard an absolutely massive sum. This is from someone who lives in Newbridge and has a few contacts in the gym (and no reason to make up stuff).
He claims he heard Enzo on the phone turn down £14 M!.... I do find this aspect of the story hard to believe, I'm sure Enzo would take such a phone call in a public place - but he knows of a few people it is in a significant excess of this.
Surely can't be.

I think it was $15'000'000 underside. Which, with the weakening pound, is getting better all the time

What would he get for fighting Pavlik - between 2.6 and 4?? (These are figures I just plucked from the air!)

I just found these figures hard to believe.... I've heard its £20 million (yes pounds) is the figure this guy has been told via a contact in the gym.
How much did Calzaghe get for the Hopkins fight.... I've just heard he netted £10 million for this.... and yes, pounds also.
I'm really surprised by these figures, never thought Joe was in that league in terms of stateside box office power. I mean its really only DLH that can command such a fee on a regular basis - and neither Jones or Hopkins were particularly massive Box office attractions.

This is all complete b*llocks.
Joe and Hopkins both got US$3m. It was filed with and reported by the commission. No upside to this as it wasn't on PPV.

Is this on PPV in the States? If so it could be what he might end up with if PPV targets were reached. Didn't Jones vs. Trindad do well in the US, perhaps the highest buys in a long time?

Yes it is on US PPV.... but an excess of 17 million pound profit from the Hopkins fight? Just doesn't seem to add up. Trinidad was a geniune box office star, making a comeback... can't see Jones vs Joe replicating those figures. Some of Jones' comeback fights haven't even been on HBO.

I find it hard to envisage it being so popular.
Jones was never a big PPV seller, he cost the networks a bloody fortune with his pay demands and gave little in return. I don't think Calzaghe is popular enough to sell this PPV in the states, where they rarely root for a foreigner, and where Jones simply isn't that popular.

Didnt some of the Jones-Tarver fights do around 500k of buys? Thats better than Mayweather before Delahoya/Hatton better than Barrera/Morales/Pacquaio. What did Hopkins-Calazage do? Because this will do significantly more

Which Jones vs Tarver fight? I could imagine possibly the first two doing well - Tarver is pretty well known and the bad blood was there and obvious to the public for years. However, if Jones is a massive PPV star - how come his fight with Ajamnju wasn't even on HBO or Showtime.
Mayweather wasn't a big attraction - he got somewhere after his performance vs Gatti - before that, he was struggling to sell out.

Hopkins-Calzaghe was on regular HBO not PPV so this statement is meaningless

PPV for this fight is ~ $50. 500k buys equate to $25,000,000. Add on foreign PPV revenue, gate receipts, merchandise etc. this could get to total revenue of $50,000,000.
No promoters fees to absorb, RJJ is self managed, Enzo will be looked after by Joe. Deduct location fees and promotion costs and they will both still clear around $20M each. Until the taxman gets hold of them.

There is absolutely NO WAY that these guy's will be making 15/20 million dollars each, let alone pounds. You guy's are throwing around phone numbers. Those are the types of numbers that only a fight involing DLH will generate. They will both make about 8 or 9 million dollars each.

Agree.
How can Calzaghe turn down £14M (c$26M) - way off!
They might split $26M.
