I dont think we have a fighter capable of reaching and staying at that level.

Of the younger, sub 25 year old fighters, who would need to be at British title level at least by now;

Mitchell - gets clobbered way too much

Khan - you need Del and Grandad to clear up the chandelier.

Murray - good fighter, but elite, less sure.

DeGale - nope.

Haye - says h'll be out in 2 years.

Gavin - maybe....

You could say the same about the world scene. How many superstars are there under the age of 30? Probably only Pacquiao, Hatton, Pavlik & Cotto. It's a shame the lower divisions have been left propping up the sport for so long as there isn't really much better for capturing the publics imagination than a seemingly invincible heavyweight.

Difficult to see where the next British world champion will come from (out of those aged 25 or under) but I think it's good to see more promotional outfits and independants - this is what will keep the sport alive. I'd like to see a lot more terrestial TV boxing showing competitive cards. Deals with the likes of Sky and Setanta may be good for the promoters but ultimately they're killing the sport as they are only been seen by a minority.

The only british prospect that I think is capable of reaching that level is Darren Barker, whether he does though I'm not sure.

Barker is good, but I am not convinced. Froch can do something but he is leaving it a bit late.

mmm actually there is no one I can say with confidence is going to be a dominant champion. Froch might win the WBC belt - but will come unstuck against the likes of Kessler, Bute.

I'd give Colin Lynes somewhat of a chance against Holt - but again... isn't going to be a Calzaghe/Hatton reigning champion.

Martin Lindsey, McCloskey, Dunne - outside chances.
