I have to go with Quarry on this one, if he doesn't get a deep cut! as usual! hehe

Quarry, no doubt. Much more complete fighter.
He'd make Cooney miss and counter-punch him into oblivion.

He had the chin to handle anything Gerry lands and once Cooney started to tire a bit he'd finish him off in 4 or 5.

Quarry towers over Cooney from a legacy standpoint and that goes without saying. And to think that his masterful counterpunching and boxing abilities wouldn't prevail against the more limited man from a skills standpoint would be daft to say the least. But I don't always pic fighters to win against ones with lesser legacies. Quarry did more than prove himself against the likes of Shavers, Lyle, Foster, Mathis and even an aged Patterson ( though many have labeled both those fights as robberies. ) Jerry was quick, smart and had a good punch for a little guy. But he also had a knack for getting decked frequently as well as cut. Against Cooney he'd be facing a man with 6 inches in height and 30 lbs in weight on him assuming they're at their best weights.. The left uppercut from Cooney and his jab which is underrated could ultimately bust up Quarry and send him to the canvas on more than one occasion, which may prove hurtful on the cards. Its not out of the question that Cooney could end it too. It took Larry Holmes 13 rounds and taking a few lumps before finally forcing Cooney into submission. Jerry didn't have the size, wingspan, boxing ability or durability that Holmes had to launch and maintain a sustained beating of that sort, and certainly not while getting some leather back from a guy who had a cannon of a left. Quarry would make him miss... But Cooney wouldn't miss all of them..
Toss-up for me..

It would be interesting to watch, but I can imagine only one outcome. And it's a Quarry win.
