You should know that the rumour is the Khan PPV did 50K buys

If YOU SUBSCRIBED TO BOXING MONTHLY YOU WOULD KNOW THIS BY NOW!

Where does this leave Fwank and SKY

Fwank said he need 250K buys - he got less than a 1/5 of that.

Nice article,Glyn. :TU:

this would leave fwanky in a better position than did before the fight, and khan getting sparked will leave him in an even better position.

khan was obviously on a %, and only had a few fights left before he fooked him off and went with team khan promo's

now he has more control, which = more money in the long run

I've heard it did 120K +, and that was from someone who works at Setanta (i know it was a SKY PPV, before you start)

Also that "250K to break even" number may not be strictly true

from the same source

It was definitely closer to 50K than 120K. Warren would be over the moon with 120K given the actual amount of PPV sales the show did. 50K is the maximum number it could have been. The real figure could have even been much, much lower.

There is not a chance on Gods earth that it was "much, much lower" than 50K

Well, what's 'much, much lower'? 20K? Would that be deemed 'much, much lower'? For argument's sake, I believe the actual figure was 'much, much lower' than the 120K you believed it to be. That much I'm sure of.

Not a bad point, but all we are talking about is more control over a chinless boxer. Not really a goldmine as it turns out you would think.

As for the PPV buys I wouldn't be surprised at 50k or less at all. I don't know anyone who bought it, including myself.

BM is in the shops tomorrow then? It comes a day early for subscribers then DG?

khan will still sell more tickets than any other UK boxer other than calzaghe/hatton, i cant see his career ending just yet cause he defo wont fight a puncher again !

out of an office of 10, 4 bought the PPV, but i live in bolton so that can be taken with a pinch of salt - however i can imagine he sold as many as Hatton did v's Maussa, fornicate knows what that figure is, but that would be my guess

Maybe people won't buy into the hype so easily this time.

Guys, I have it on good authority it was 57,972.

Well I predicted 70,000 so if that is correct I'd say I was brilliant.

So about 900,000 quid on PPV?

Khan got....£500,000?

Prescott got...a return flight, next three fights signed away and tour of Reebok Stadium?

Alex Arthur got...£200,000?

Nicky Cook got...£50,000?

Just guessing/

And what good would that have done them financially?

What was the attendance? The top tier was closed wasn't it, so under 15,000.
How much would Frank have made from ticket sales?

None prior to 7:30pm, but then a queue suddenly formed at the crisp counter and demand ran high for the rest of the evening. It was ramadan after all.

Got my BM today. Incidently for two months running now people in the office have commented how gay the cover of the mag is!

Anyway, Glyn Leach made a pretty major (and to be fair unusual) rick when he described Tyson's DEFENCE against Bruno in 1989 (ie two references to the fact it was the first fight) as the first Sky PPV, when of course it was actually the return in 1996.

Poor research Glyn :box:

whatever ...maybe the memory is blurred because it was such a murky day for boxing

check out the crooks and criminals currently owning premiorship football clubs

sky tv was the absolute death of boxing as a mainstream sport

glyn was spot on in his article 'sky were taking the piss' with khan
