Haye Vs 2 Gunz

So it's Monte Barrett in November. Context is a funny thing. It seems like a relative triumph following the JD Chapman talk. But it's hardly preparation for Vlad Klit.
That said I wouldn't be surprised if he sees the final bell. He's a fairly canny operator.

My 2 choices were Barrett or Maskaev.
This will give us a good indication of where Haye is at. Barrett has beaten guys like Guinn, Owen Beck and Tye Fields and in defeat exposed Joe Mesi, most of those guys were undefeated at the time and talking about going on and possibly being the saviours of the division.
Im happy with the fight.

Very true, he needs to be practicing against a chandelier to prepare for Wlad.

Taking on the official Gatekeeper in his first fight at the weight is commendable IMO, as James said it should give us a god idea of how Haye will take to the new weight division.
Haye doesn't need any prep for Klit, he had all the prep he needed for Wlad when he took on Gurov

Looking forward to this........good test for Haye, we'll see how he deals with an established heavy with some ambition.

He was also the BoxingWriter Fighter of the Month for June.
You dont get accolades like that in a sweet shop I can tell you.

Exactly, Haye just needs to get a few good wins under his belt and back Klitschko into a corner to force him into a fight.

Good fight for Haye. A stoppage win would be outstanding.
Always the chance of an upset with Barrett. Very underrated and hugely experienced.
Gonna do a teble in November backing against the Brits.
Jones is 3/1, Malignaggi is 9/4 and i reckon Barrett will be about 4's.

Excellent fight, could be a very testing first step into the HW division.
Seems like Barrett might be vunerable early, though I haven't seen either Couser fight - anyone got the details?
Barrett has fought just about everybody, and seeing as he stayed the course with punchers like Mesi & Rahman, could be he'll be a danger once he gets in his stride. He'll no doubt fancy testing the Haye chin after his last blastout win.
Could go either way I reckon, Haye is favorite, but the bookies will be nervous. I'd not be surprised to see either score an Xrated KO.

im thrilled to bits, and i bet setanta are aswell. barret is an excellent choice and the fight is prob a 60-40 fight in hayes favour, that is a big gamble .
monte does not stay down if he is clocked, he has a big heart and could cause haye problems if he connects.
roll on november..

I'm glad he's fighting a decent opponent in Barrett and i think it will be a good fight, but i cant see it being as close as some are saying like 60 - 40 to Haye. If Haye has got any realistic ambitions of becoming HWC then he should be stopping this guy or a very unanimous decision. Our old friend Twin Tyson Couser gave him a KO didn't he ?? I know he got knocked out himself in the rematch but even still.

Didn't Buncey suggest Barrett only for Haye to say something like, "Barrett's just a journeyman, & doesn't bring anything" ??
It is a decent start at the new weight - a decent progression from Bonin. Hopefully Haye wins spectacularly and gets an eliminator fight.
Is Haye-Barrett for definite?

Yeah Adam Booth anounced it on Bunces boxing hour this afternoon at about 2:30pm.
Looking forward to this fight - great opponent for Haye to begin his heavyweight campaign.

There's no guarantee that Haye will end up fighting Klitchsko anyway, he has to face Povetkin before Haye. So it could be Povetkin who Haye has to prepare for.
Its good for Haye to fight any 'live' heavyweight, which Barrett is.

Not an easy fight for Haye at all!
Typical Haye though, this is challenge and that's what he said he would seek.
Just think - what other British Heavyweight would you pick to beat Barrett?
Good fight!

Great fight. I'm really looking forward to it. It's a confident step into Heavyweight waters. It could be Klitschko after this!

Skelton. Any fighter who loses to Valuev and Ko'ed by a journeymen most decent heavies will beat.
Solid pick for Haye, but I expected better considering how much he has hyped himself up. Barrett hasn't won any of his most significant fights. Fields was a padded journeymen with a glass jaw.

Wlad won't have problems with Povetkin. Povetkin just comes forward trying to use workrate with not much of a defence or head movment. He's probably been rushed too fast on shot heavyweights too. Freshest Hw Povetkin fought could of beat him If he didn't get lazy.

Think you've got Povetkin all wrong, Max. He has more technical ability than you give him credit for. Vs Chambers it was mainly workrate, but Chambers has a very good defence. Povetkin used good feints vs Larry Donald, to hide the real punches that were being thrown. Pov's good at finding space & angles up close, to unleash his hooks. Nice variety of shots, as well. He has a lot of stamina and willpower, which will help him a lot as well.
If Wlad wins, it's because the ref lets him get away with tying up inside and turning his back whenever the clinches break.

Loses to valuev.. so most decent heavies would beat Mcline, lyakovich, ruiz, beck, donald, etienne, levin, vidoz... all decent heavies, no?
Povetkin. World champion kickboxer, every amateur he's lost to he avenged by subsequently beating, is currently 16-0 and wlad is suseptable to a fighter who comes forward with a high workrate! Wlad is fav due to size, but fornicate me, to say wlad beats anyone easy is a bold statement... brewster, purity, sanders!! Why not the amateur superstar povetkin.

I think people overestimate Wlad way too much, sure he has good boxing skills, world class punching power and immense size but OMG I've never seen such a big strong man fight so cautiously in all my years of following boxing, he makes Lennox look like a prime Tyson ffs.
His fight with Ibragimov is one of the biggest stinkfests I have ever seen, whenever Sultan got close to him Wlad panicked and held on for dear life and he had that whole "rabbit trapped in the headlights" look about him. He should have at least had points deducted for his constant holding as well.

I'm sorry Max, but I have to agree with the lads above. Povetkin ain't the next Tyson, but he's quick (for a big man), aggresive, and clever. He makes it much harder than Ibragimov did. He can get under Wlad's jab, and throw shots in combo's. That's when it gets interesting. Maybe Klitschko keeps it at range and makes it look easy. But I can't wait to see the natural fighter try and make it difficult for Wlad.
