Supposedly, my grandfather, Gus Feldmann, was the New Jersey welterweight champ in 1912. How can I verify this information? Carbo.

If you are in New Jersey, go to the local university's library (the better school, the better library), and dig through the papers of your grandfather's hometown. If not, go to your local library, and see if the library can help you with a microfilm exchange.

tegemn...would it be that hard to locate? I was assuming someone might have that info more quickly available than that.... but my guess is that you probably have it right......And of course that would be the direct source. I just assumed that it might be compiled somewhere and available more readily than that.

Is there that much undiscovered data still waiting out there?

Thanks, gentlemen. I also assumed there would be an historical database. I just sent emails to aunt and uncle asking if they can recall the names of the newspapers that existed in his hometown at that time (1912). I'll also inquire at the Library of Congress for whatever assistance they can offer. Carbo.

You might try newspaperarchive.com. Its not too expensive to join, and they might have what you are looking for. I think they list the available newspapers in their database. All you need is the name of the town:
