AMIR KHAN will try to salvage his career by returning to action on December 13.

The fallen idol will move his training base to Los Angeles next month and prepare with Freddie Roach, his FOURTH professional trainer in little over three years.

Roach is one of the world’s top trainers but even he will have a tough job to improve Khan’s defence. The Commonwealth lightweight champion’s chin was brutally exposed when he was destroyed in 54 seconds by Breidis Prescott earlier this month.

That led to trainer Jorge Rubio being sacked after he recommended the Colombian knockout artist as a safe opponent, to the fury of Khan’s promoter allegedly and matchmaker Dean Powell.

Leading British boxers, led by David Haye, advised Khan to get away from his home comforts if he wanted to join the world’s elite, and he has heeded their warning.

Khan, 21, was due to box on December 6 but it has been put back because Roach’s superstar fighter Manny Pacquiao faces Oscar de la Hoya on that date. Khan’s comeback is likely to remain on Sky Box Office despite his shattering defeat by Prescott.

It looks set to take place in Britain, though a Las Vegas debut cannot be ruled out.

Oliver Harrison trained Khan until May. Powell took over for one fight, followed by the disastrous appointment of ex-Cuban Olympic coach Rubio.

Khan is hardly going to have the undivided attention of Roach leading up to Pacman-DLH. He'll see him less than Dwight Yorke sees his kid.

Not really ideal preparation at a potentially crucial stage in his career. So Gainer it is.

With 27 PPV sells.

I think it will have to be on ppv in order for FW to pay Khan just like his last fight.

The move to December 13th would make sense particularly if it's going to be another PPV. I wouldn't have fancied Sky's chances going up against Froch in a world title fight on free TV while Amir is babied back to winning ways on PPV.

If it is going to be PPV Frank will have to do better than a Nicky Cook - Ricky Burns "world title" fight on the card. I don't think I'd bother watching that if it was free let alone PPV. My guess is he'll try and snap up one or two of the Olympians in time to make their pro debuts on that show.

Apparently 49,000. He's going to have to put Enzo Maccarinelli v Johnathon Banks on the card if he's going to have any chance of making it a ppv success.

I think the ball is in Franks court now. Khan is no longer the unbeaten superstar. I believe Khan will have to take a big cut in money making him far more affordable.

I would think that putting a good fight to sweeten the package is a good idea. Like they did with Cook v Arthur for instance. I don't actually rate Banks - Macca should school him. So it's not certain to even be a good fight. But they can say it's a "world title fight" and give added prestige (for those plenty of ppl that can be tricked).

It does sound like going a bit far to have Khan on PPV after the way his last/first PPV went. I would actually buy the PPV without feeling too bad if it was a really good domestic level bout. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to buy Khan v John Murray, Andrew Murray or even Gethin.

Is there a big US fight on the same night, that will be part of the package? ala the great "Judgement Night"...

Then again, having Khan and Macca on the same card...What if they both got chinned and annihilated on the same card? That would be embarassing, and with their chins it's always a risk.

Perhaps it could be a regular thing - a ritual flogging. Pay £15 to see Khan get demolished. Maybe it could happen every 3 months.

Well, I aint surprised - If Hamed vs Calvo was going to be a PPV then I thought as much, with this - "the hard road back"! Disgusting, but I aint surprised - indeed, was a bit surprised at the responses that "Khan won't be on PPV for a while" - it doesn't work like that.

The only thing going against it is the timing of the fight.... unless they can put it on a massive bill (like the British leg of DLH vs Pacquiao). Cause Sky do like to Spread their PPV's about, indeed so far we have had 1 PPV in 2008. I don't think Sky will expect Customers to folk out two lots of 15 quid (additionally) in the space of a month - Hatton vs Malignaggi will be on PPV... so maybe some "deal" - order the Hatton PPV and get the Khan one for half price?

I'd guess that Khans up and coming fight will be against John Fewkes. Lost his last fight. Has 2 KO's from 17 wins. He's the perfect Amir Khan opponent.

Could be the guy who beat John Fewkes. The problem is, Martin Gethin has 7 KO's. That might be a bit risky for Khan.

Whilst he is more used to boxing at Super Feather, it is felt he is just the right level of opponent for Khan at this stage.

Seriously, though, credit to Khan for not throwing in the towel, but I honestly can't see this fight involving anything other than a VERY carefully selected opponent.

Moreover, I'd love to see Prescott in action again- I'm sure his "the man who knock out Khan" tag would make him a ticket seller over here.
