Klitschko shouldve had a warm up, possibly two fights before this.

I expect Peter to weatheran early storm before loading up on an exhausted Klitschko.

Vitali Klitschko launches his long-anticipated comeback at the O2 Arena in Berlin on October 11 when he challenges for his old WBC heavyweight title now held by Nigeria's Sam Peter. The giant, iron-jawed, heavy handed Ukrainian, who once gave Lennox Lewis a real war before he was pulled out on cuts (Lennox never fought again), has his first fight since he pounded Brixton's Danny Williams in eight unpleasant rounds in Las Vegas in December 2004.
Klitshcho then retired due to knee and back problems, and the burly Peter ultimately picked up the WBC title Klitschko never lost in the ring with a six-round thumping of Russian Oleg Maskaev earlier this year. The thorn of Klitschko has never left Peter's side, however, and this is a golden chance for the African strongman to prove his right to the belt and avenge a loss to Wladimir Klitschko (Vitali's younger brother) in the process. You know, all the sparring in the world will not help Vitali after a four-year layoff. The man should stay retired.

I'm going to this fight, and I really want Vitali to win. So I'll pick him on disputed points decision.

However the fact that he defied conventional logic and avoided any warm up bouts suggests to me that there is a calculated risk about his injury. I hope not. He's a class act. And I can't imagine it being a memorable night at o2 world if he gets turfed.

No, on a serious note I fancy Vitali to win a UD.

Vitali in a one-sided beatdown. He will have deteriorated, but this won't be a factor. Peter is slow, immobile and a comparative dwarf - he won't be able to get near Klit since I don't think Vitali's awkward leaning and pawing technique will be any more penetrable than it was before.

Good fight this, the type to drag a few mates down the pub to watch, as even non boxing fans like to watch a couple of heavyweight bombers in action. But sadly I think this is in the early hours?? I see showtime USA have it down for 9pm...or maybe that's delayed?

I still be fairly surprised to see Vitali make it to the ring, even more surprised to see him win.

With his injury problems they can't have been training/sparing too hard with him, that and a 4 year lay off will be too much to overcome

Peter wins in a one sided beatdown. Klit to look old, rusty slow and shot, eats punches as Peter walks him down, making him quit or get stopped somewhere after 6 rds.

Vitali to win in 8 rounds if Mccline puts Peter down so will a rusty Vitali. Sam Peter is not great at all.

Vitali's looking In better shape than Fat Peter anyway. Peter's got a heavy padded record so Vitali could win this even with 4 years Inactivity.

Going to this one myself as well as i think it has the makings of a cracker,They both have punishing power and solid chins so I am expecting a war
I reckon the 2004 Klitschko would have dominated Peter at long range and bludgeoned him to a late stoppage, but with Vitali out of the ring for nearly 4 years and Peter having definitely improved its interesting looking fight
I still go with Vitali late but not without having to go through some sticky patches throughout the fight

If he's 80% of the 2004 model he wins at a canter. He's never been dropped and never been behind on points in a fight.

LOL, i forgot that Peter neaqrly got marmalised by Jameel McClown. How is this bumbling oaf gonna beat Vitali? Even if Vitali comes in rusty and slow, he's still got that mammoth height and reach advantage and presumably his chin is still there. Peter won't get near him! wAKE UP GUYS!

I always liked Iron Fist and believe that in his prime he would have been trouble for any heavyweight. But to come back and fight Samuel "The One Dimensional Nigerian Nightmare" Peter is a big ask and an intriguing fight.

Peters odds are 11/8 which are too high IMO and on paper and considering the long lay off Vitali has had I have to edge with Peter on this. But - even though I'm a betting man, I prefer to make an opinion based on what I have seen recently from both fighters, something I am unable to do in this case, and so this is a "no bet".

This will come down to how much Vitali has left, how good his preparation was. I don't think he has had a tough career, apart from the injuries he suffered outside of the ring, and in favour of Vitali, heavyweights don't have the same issues the lower weights have to contend with such as boiling their bodies down to make weight they haven't been to in a long time, so coming back from inactivity should be easier in those respects.

But FOUR YEARS? Look at his opponents since he fought Lennox - a two round blow out of Kirk Johnson, eight rounds on the fat punching bag that was Corrie Sanders, followed up with another eight easy rounds bouncing Danny Williams off the canvas. Peter is set to become only the third opponent for Vitali under the age of 30 that he has fought this decade, the first two being the mighty duo of Timo Hoffman (the only man to take him 12 rounds, who subsequently lost his next bout to Michael Sprott), and Vaughn Bean (whom despite never holding a world title is arguably his best win on paper).

One has to give credit to Iron Fist for being willing to take on Peter without a warm up. Younger brother always had the better skills (and an edge on power), but the more robotic Vitali has definitely been the most macho of the two, which admittedly wouldn't be very difficult. Whether that will mean he'll fare better against Peter or not, I don't know, but it'll be fun finding out. I do think somebodys going to give, and perhaps inside of six rounds.
