Just heard on Sky Sports - Its now Cleverley vs Oakey for the Vacant Commonwealth title.
When did Francis drop out... anything to do with Cleverley leaving Calzaghe?
And why oh why is the Commonwealth title involved AGAIN... Francis just defended that.
That really fustrates me.

I didn't realise until I saw this on the previous stories on BBC Sport Boxing.

Fair enough if it is true - cannot understand why Francis has pulled out.... got something else planned.

I would imagine that Francis is injured.
Its amazing how these Commonwealth titles belonging to Sports Network fighters become vacant when there's TV slots to fill, I wonder how much they're paid to give them up.

apparently francis pulled out due to personal problems and simply decided not to fight cleverley. He wont be fighting again since december so ithink in this case its fair to vacate the commonwealth title

Interesting step up for Cleverley we'll certainly find out more about him in this one.
In fairness to Cleverley has looked his best in his fights with Quigley KO5 & Powers KO7 they are his toughest oppenents and he's stopped them. Oakey is a nice step up.
I think it's a shame he left Team Calzaghe to go with his dad. Being with Calzaghe opened doors for him.

Oakey will be small fav, who do you fancy billy?
i'd go for Oakey although not with much conviction as I don't know how much notice he's had for it. On blob he stops him for me.

What's on the undercard? At the moment it seems to be just a one fight card.

Good little segment on Cleverley on a Welsh programme called Wales this week. Boxing fans learned nothing knew (discussed his education) - but he came across well... if maybe a tad lacking in desire (talking about using the Maths to fall back on should he fail) - all very sensible, but should the thought of fail be anywhere in the mind.
Well I say it was a good segment, but really it was having a go at the sport - basically saying "most boxers are thick as shit, but Cleverely is the exception".

I've met Nathan on a few occassions he's a very cool guy, laid back too. I think he'll take Friday's fight in his stride. If he's as good as i'm lead to believe he'll do an numbe ron Oakey.
I know a few people in America, who rate him too.

What I have seen of him so far and what I have heard are two different things. Word is he is mustard, performance wise so far he's looked okay, nowt outstanding. Hopefully, he will improve as the standard improves.
The programme kind of skimmed past the Calzaghe's involvement - just said he was trained by his dad, then by enzo, now back with his dad - didn't say why.
Cleverley and his dad came across well, with his Dad saying his involvement will probably be a temporary things cause he knows he isn't a world class coach.

I dont think you need to be a maths student to work it out.
Due to the fall out between Calzaghe and Wazza everyone on the perifory gets affected.
I personally think it will be a while - if at all - before we see the Calzaghe stable in action for Wazza.
So what was Nathan's option to get active ?
Leave the gym.
What was the perfect temporary solution ?
With his dad until everyone knows how things are gonna pan out between Calzaghe and Wazza.
If that is settled amicably ?
Back to Calzaghe.
If that leads to total fall out ?
Find a new permanent trainer.
Ultimately I suspect all of Enzo's fighters are contracted to Wazza, so he holds the reins.
I've seen this happen before when Wazza fell out with Ingle.
Basically he froze a lot of the kids out.
Totally unfair and childish - but that's his style I'm afraid.
Onside and he's an angel, off side and ....

He very bitter man is Wazza, he should be doing shows with Bradley Pryce and the rest of Welsh lads build a following in Wales imo

I agree Leforge but it's just not his style.
He's been left seething by the Calzaghe affair, but ultimately it's everyone on the perifory that gets affected the most.
A couple of million here or there on the judgement to Wazza and Calzaghe ain't gonna put them into bankruptcy, but a couple of thousand here and there not being able to be earned by certain others further down the food chain has a massive impact.
When do you see Pryce, and Rees for instance, fighting again ?
I still have a nervous feeling Maccaroni and Banks won't happen.

I think Pryce will fight on same card as Banks v macca. If I was him I be put this as double header on Friday fight night all both on Khan bill. I think he got some good upcoming stars who need regular fight take Chisora he should be out agin this month.

Hope you're right, but I am not at all confident in the Banks fight happening.
Based on zero factual, just a gut feel.
I think Macca is caught between a rock and a hard place - with Calzaghe going public on wanting to sign him up for his new Promo Company.
If Wazza thinks that's gonna happen will he bother to stage the Banks fight ?

My source told me Macca is in talks with the UFC and a possible showdown with Michael Bisping in the new year.

26 - Sorry if you misread me - I know exactly why Cleverley left team Calzaghe, and so does everyone on here (especially as there have been press releases) - I was merely "reviewing" the show and noted it only skimmed over the fact that Calazaghe is no longer involved.

Stu,
Wasn't teaching you to suck eggs either.
I don't get Welsh TV here !
The pun was the maths student bit, given Nathan's fall back plan if it goes wrong.

Cleverly wisely stated that he had left the Newbridge Gym due to "politics". I'm interested to see what happens with Big Macc next.
I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to Oakey vs Cleverly this Friday. I prefer boxers with higher KO ratios, unless they're showing World class skill. It'd be funny if Cleverly scored a one punch knockout.

What do you lot make of the undercard?
Bellew, Selkirk, Vassell and the two younger Smiths are both featuring.
Bellew wants Cleverly.
