OK, everyone knows me to be a big Ricky Hatton fan, but I was having a very interesting conversation with my girlfriend in the pub. We were talking about the forthcoming fight and how many people were getting invited...she then mentioned that she much prefers Paulies tongue in cheek cockiness to Hattons self righteous crap!

She went on to mention all his 'man of the people', getting in a trainer who slags off an old mate..and worst of all that 'bloody song'

I found it interesting..Paulie has been brought in as the bad guy, mouthy git but at the moment who does everyone PREFER??

BTW, this is nout to do with Witter so dont mention him, dont mention ducking ect...this is about public image

I was never taken in by Ricky's "man of the people" crap and success has clearly gone to his head.

He is simply nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

I'm really hoping for a Malignaggi victory but sadly he isn't that good either!

mal because he is a man of the people imo. His interviews are interesting and he seems to tell the truth , also he is cocky and funny along with it but not insulting like pbf or mayorga.

Tough call between the hypocritical Hatton who backs his man of the people schtick by robbing them blind for tickets and the like, and Malignaggi, who is annoying enough in his own right. I'd rather see Paulie, who at last has the balls to fight someone against whom he is not favourite, win than see Hatton have another reason to skip the real fights.

I've met Paulie just once (seen him fight live a couple of times), when he was having a press conference in the bar is was drinking in NY (the legendary Jimmy's Corner). He sat next to me and we chatted one-on-one for about 10 minutes before DiBella got his arse in gear and started the press conference.He was a really nice bloke, relatively quiet and slightly nervous (most boxers are nervous absent a camera, actually that could be another of Terry's pieces), so he wasn't really "what you see", I wish him well.

I was pointing out that Paulie has been brought in as the bad guy, mouthy, brash ect but Hattons PR has been so bad in many peoples eyes the roles are becoming reversed, and if they have, does Hatton need to adust his profile??...hope that clears that up for you, wouldnt want you walking around 'in the dark'

For the first time I can ever remember I don't think I can bring myself to support the Brit.

Hattons manufactured silverspoon record pisses me off and Hattons avoidance of Witter was inexcusable and now he's brought in this mouthy cuntt who is degrading Billy Graham as a trainer

Ricky Hatton, bar his showing of courage against Miguel Cotto I don't have much time for 'The Magic Man'.

Though its obvious that some people are always going to slag Hatton off this really is an attempt to get down to the nitty gritty of WHY the public image is faltering, even for the man on the street!

Word for the Witter fan club, no-one bar yourselves cares that he avoided Witter and no-one thinks that his record is manufactured, Datsue on that point is correct, Hatton could fight the anti-Christ and Hatton would be the villain.

But those who sit on the fence are starting to slip away from the Hatton camp and thats a worrying trend. And IMO some of the people round him need to look at this closely! This isnt some Witter nuthuggers going on that they hate Hatton((their opionions on the subject mean very little), this is becoming a trend

99% of British Boxing fans wanted to see Hatton Vs Witter not just the 'Witter Fan Club'. For the record I'm not particularly a Witter fan... I'm a British Boxing fan.

Why is it such a big deal if somebody doesn't like a certain fighter? Even the all time greats like Ali, Robinson, Leonard and Louis aren't safe from criticism so why get your knickers in a twist when somebody slags off a decent but severely overrated fighter like Hatton.
I don't hate Hatton, I'm just not a fan and I'm not the sort of person who would want him to get seriously hurt. This is a boxing forum where we are allowed to express our opinions about fighters and if people get all moany about criticism of certain fighters then tough, go to the forum on Hattons website if you want to hear nothing but praise about him.
