Well he may as well set his price high, the pro game is hard and if you can make that sort of money early good luck to him.

I don't think DeGale would be popular as a pro.

He has got no chance because the money is not there anymore. The best he'll get is £1 million over three years

Suppose you can't blame him for asking, but the answer from the very few who can afford it will probably be ,, stay ameteur then and hope your still in the team in 4 years

Yeah DeGale doesn't have what it takes to sell tickets as a pro, he's dislikeable in all the wrong was. Its not like with Naz where a great part of his appeal to some people, was watching to see if someone shuts his big mouth. With DeGale, its just a case of wanting to switch off the TV when his stupid face appears.

After Audley and now Khan't - I think fingers have been truly burnt.
Best he could expect is 500k

i think that his boxing style and his demeanour, his lack of charisma and lack of 'public' appeal will not see him get very far in the pro game.....
also seems to lack a KO punch to be honest, im not sure of his amateur stoppage ratio but it is not 'edge of seat' stuff, thats for sure.

Never in a million years will he get it
He has no story behind him like khan. He is not a heavyweight. He doesnt have a ready made big audience due in part to his race and location, doesnt have the style( touch of the junior witter about him). To be honest i was surprised when he got £1m text offers from two promoters after his triumph.
To be honest, I half forgot about him and the other boys. It was only when looking at the BBC website today that I remmebered that none of the boys have made a definitive decsiion whether or not to turn in the vest

Unreal and what a bold statement!!
Can anyone remember what happened to the Irish Gold medalist Michael Carruth or can anyone remember Michael Carruth.
Surely the Harrison and Khan flops prove that an Olympic medal does not a great fighter make only a great amateur!!
Rumour has it Sports Network payed Khan a bundle to turn pro how can they ever hope to get the money back.

It is a pretty daft statement. £2m over two years! Its not a 9-5 job James, it depends what you do in those two years!
The money will be there if he does well. Not a good sign if he's looking for it all up front.
I'm undecided as to whether he'll be a ticket seller as a pro. He comes across as a likeable lad, bit of a scoundrel.

Micheal used my gym, while in London. But spent a lot of time in Ireland. He really never had a base to work on the Pro fundamentles, shame He was a nice Kid.

An Olympic Gold medallist who the casual sports fan has forgotten about, if he ever knew about him in the first place. Combine with not particularly likeable persona. Combine with back foot spoiler with no power= £2m.
just lol.

There are British, Commonwealth & European boxers not earning £25k a fight - yet he thinks he can pull in £2m for the embryonic stage of his pro career ?
That's some detachment from pro-boxing reality.

I think he is quite a likeable chap.
Silly money of course and won't get anywhere near that, but he is nowhere near as arrogant and cocky as some are making out.
He came across well during the Olympics and was genuinely honoured to bring home a Gold for Britain(almost in tears on the podium etc, not issuing ultimatums where he will represent someone else if not sent to the Games like Khan did for example)
Good luck to the lad.

JAMES DeGALE has hit back at David Haye and accused the world cruiserweight champ of being a bottler in his amateur days.
Haye said Olympic middleweight gold medallist DeGale was not up to turning pro.
But DeGale, 22, rapped: “He didn’t win an ABA title, s**t himself in the Commonwealth Games and, OK, he got a silver medal at the World Championships but he got knocked out.
“He’s got no chin and no heart
