To be fair to Sky, I think there's a few decent domestic cards coming up.
Maloney is certainly doing his part.

I doubt sky care too much that setanta are beating them in the boxing stakes. Horse of the year show will probably get more viewers than friday fight night.

It is true, there are not so many boxing fans around now. I have to force my mates to watch boxing.

SKY costs far to much, what is it now with SKY Sports £38?

I cancelled Sky Sports a couple of months ago and I am only missing 2 hrs on a Friday night (a part from a few football matches) - if I want to watch the fight I can either go to the pub, find a stream, visit a mate or avoid the result and download it the next day.

All of the above options are an improvement on shelling out big money month on month for very little coverage.

I now watch by stream, the quality isn't as good as watcing it on TV, but it saves me quite an amout in subscriptions

are there streams available for friday fight nights

I'm very backward when it comes to IT - talks of streams etc makes me think of the Lake District.
I hear that Pacman v Golden Boy is on a free to view called Solar Sports and GMA 7.
This means nowt to me.
Does this mean that there might be a chance of seeing this live / free somewhere ?

SKY operates at a very large profit and is backed by a multinational parent group

Setanta operates at a substantial loss and is struggling to attract new subscribers

To be honest, I can't even see what I'm watching on Setanta. The reception is appalling, watching fights live or on replay. The picture flickers way too much, at least over the past month.

I had the same problem at first via a Sky feed and in the end Sky came out and replaced my Sky+ box. That eventually solved the problem.

The problem could be your equipment and not the actual signal from Setanta itself..

Yes, but you need to buy a satellite from Maplins to use it. And know someone that can point the thing for you, although Mr Poo said his does it automatically ala Stay Tuned.

I just don't know. Other channels still work fine. What got me was that the replays the next day had exactly the same "jump cuts" and flickering. It was the Rhodes card and the Calderon card that were unwatchable really.

setanta try hard but the presentation of their football and boxing coverage is shambolic and not a patch on Sky although I will admit Skys presentation quality has declined over the last year or so.

I hate the way that charisma-devoid pub layman type fella and buncey casually chat all the way to the refs final instructions, or how they tune straight out right after the verdict is announced and kill the atmos with the same fella wittering on and struggling for words.

Feels awful and budget.

That sounds EXACTLY the same as the problem I had - I moaned at Setanta for a couple of months, they sent me new signals etc etc and all other Sky channels worked perfectly - crips and clear.

Since I got sky involved and they replaced the receiver box (FOC) it has been 100% perfect picture on Setanta.

I would contact Sky and start moaning if I were you.

I prefer the fights to be on sky the pitcure quality better but I grateful we get more fights having both.

SKY are looking at ways of entering the freeview market, this may include 'picnic' type of tv viewing, where you pick the program you want to see and pay for it in advance. Say films or sporting events could be broadcast this way, a type of PPV on freeview.
It would mean having to get a different type of freeview box, but SKY are looking to do a subcedized one of those.

You think Setanta is crap now? Its improved a lot in comparison to its earlier occasion of putting on shows! Remember the judah vs cotto fight? The ratio presentation was terrible!
Howabout barrera vs pacman 2? We lost a good round and a fukking half!

Setanta are busy showing the "trade" international fights while SKY have gone all PPV on us lately! ITV are showing free stuff too so it's good times at the moment for the Boxing nerds.
