Fights on Network TV

In a discussion on the Current Scene, the subject of Fights that were on Network TV (ABC, CBS, or NBC) came up. I listed 30 fights that I could remember watching that were either a title fight (back when there were "only" two champs at a given weight class) or betweeen two serious contenders on Network TV in 1979.

Looking back it's amazing the amount of quality matchups you could watch for free. I'm sure you say the same for years before 1979, and maybe the early 1980's.

I thought I would list them again here:

1.Holmes-Shavers II (Primetime)
2.Leonard-Price (Primetime)
3.Saad Muhammad (Franklin)-Marvin Johnson
4.Galindez-Rossman II
5.Hagler- Antuofermo I (Primetime)
6. Leonard-Benitez (Primetime)
7. James Scott-Yaqui Lopez
8. Scott-Kates
9. Scott-Celestine
10. Benitez-Palomino
11. Benitez-Weston
12. Leonard-Ranzany
13. Coetzee-Spinks
14.Tate -Coetzee
15.Tate-Bobick
16.Norton-Shavers (Primetime)
17.Holmes-Ocasio (Primetime)
18.Ocasio-Young II
19. Danny Lopez-Mike Ayala
20. Arguello-Limon
21. Arguello-Escalera
22. Leonard-Price
23. Cuevas-Espada
24. Tate-Knoetzee
25. Antuofermo-Corro
26. Leonard-Chiaverini
27. Leonard-Geraldo
28. Hearns-Weston
29. Pintor-Zarate
30. Marvin Johnson-Victor Galindez (Primetime)

-There are other interesting matchups that may have been on Network TV. To be honest I can't remember.
This includes Hagler-Sugar Ray Seales and Chacon-Arguello.

I'm sure I'm not recalling some other fights; this was 29 years ago. :)
Of course there are a probably a few others that I missed.

Was wondering if anyone else remembers some of these fights and/or can recall any other interesting matchups from that year?

You forgot one of the biggest fights of that year...Duran vs Palomino...maybe it was on HBO. I could be corrected.

I couldn't remember either when I made this list. I looked it up on HBO's website and was broadcast on HBO.

Still that is quite a few good fights that you could see for free.
