Who's the next Great Britain?

Usually when we've had 1 great fighter retire we've seen other top level men to replace them, After Benn/Eubank it was Hamed/Lewis, after Hamed/Lewis it was Calazage/Hatton. So who's going to be our top level men of tomorrow? I'm sure many have written Amir Khan off, I think he can grab himself belt down the line personally. Who tops our future talent tree:

Amir Khan? - can become a belt holder, in the right circumstances
Mitchell? - I think he can become a belt holder
Nicky Cook? - looked fantastic against Arthur
John Murray? - I don't think he stands a chance on the world stage
Froch? - Already 31, so I dont see him being the 'future'. May grab a belt though but against the best will lose for me

Others? I didn't think that much of our olympic talent in terms of the world stage but I suppose we'll see. Thoughts? Is it bleak?

Haye, Froch and I think John Murray could be a surprise package

Haye and Froch will win world titles imo. I would also really like to see Murray, Mitchell And Jennings win world titles. I would also like to see Paul Appleby win a world title in the future as i find him an exiting fighter imo :box:

The next great Britain would really have to be a boxer who kinda dominates their division for a good few years .. even if only in Britain.

Haye as much as I like him - just looks like the type who will most probably get another title .. but get bombed out by just about any guy he defends against .. then kinda go to dust in a matter of months..

Froch I see going kinda the same way, win a title and prob lose on points within a defence or two .. he is at an age where the stand out champions are already established and looking for the money and safer fights to prolong their reign.

Khan will never be a great.

Maybe Murray is our best bet...he seems to have the age and ability .. just a bit of luck is all he needs.

If that were the case, we'd be pretty much fuc*ed.

As much as I`d like to point to another potentially great up and comer .. I just don`t see one ... Napa/Barker/Brook etc are at best good British title level.

Kevin mitchell for me he's still 21 he needs 1 or 2 more hard fights learning to shoure up his defence and to stop losing his head like he did against johannsen thn take on nicky cook i also think kevin would be strong at lightweight and maybe even light welter eventually

Mitchell ain't no 21 mate.

Good value for money fighter but will get eaten up at World Class level if and when his promoter takes the plunge.

Billy Joe Saunders is my pick.
DeGale and Gavin have the ability to make the transition from effective Amateur to top Pro too.

People are saying the recent crop of Olympians don't look like potential superstars, yet Hatton, Calzaghe and Hamed hardly tore up any trees in the World Amateur Scene did they?
Don't write these lads off before they have even thrown a punch for pay!!!!

Whilst we wait for the next crop to come good, Haye and Froch will keep us fans ticking over :TU:

Kevin Mitchell might struggle at the top level, but i can see him winning the Europeon title.
He's developed into a good box/puncher, he's using his head a bit more as he's progressed, not just trying to wade into his opponent.
You can't fault his heart, the win over Johanneson proves this.
At world level Mitchell may get found out, kind of like Jason Litzau when he stepped up.

If Cleverly could develop some power he could do okay.Beating Tony Oakey after 12 fights and at 21 years old was impressive. It'll be interesting to see how he develops. That lack of punch power will cost him at a higher level though.

You need a punch these days, a big punch.

Froch and Haye have punch power, but the rest don`t.

Froch is the man imo. Nice big heided type as well. Sort of bloke that you want to win, but don`t really mind seeing him come a cropper just to see how he handles it.

Why do you need a big punch? Mayweather didn't have one.

Can't see any being great but can certainly see Kevin Mitchell and possibly Darren Barker winning a version of the title.

As for now I can see Froch winning a title or two and being a good fighter for the next few years, if David Haye can win a heavyweight title that will be good too, however if Haye manages to win a title and start to unify belts then we could possibly talk about him as a great British fighter. I think Jamie Moore could win a title but I can't see Jamie being around much longer as he's close to 30 now and has had a long tough career.

As for Khan I'm not going to be hasty and write him off completely but it's going to be a long road back and I'm interested to see what Roach can do with him.

Haye/Froch,, then
Khan,, then
Billy J S/Gavin/S Smith/De Gale

looks obvious, but there is no other talent coming through that could hit WORLD level

Haye is leading the pack by a long way having been a unified world champion at Cruiserweight. If he can win genuine world heavyweight titles, he has to be the greatest Britain around in boxing.

Froch will be next in the pecking order if he beats Pacsal and go onto defend.

The thing to bear in mind about the Haye and Froch is I don't think they look to go down the route of racking up 20 defences against shite challengers. Their reigns may be shorter but I should imagine the quality will be higher. Not the obscure rabble Warren lined up for Calzaghe, as an example.

id be very surprised if Haye & Froch can make 5 defences between them when they gat a belt, which i think they will (get a belt)

How about Craig McEwan? if he does take on Angulo in his next fight and wins, then he's got to be considered one of Britains best prospects.

Anthony Small has been proving me wrong lately, wether he can carry it off at top level is undecided.

i think haye will be a breath of fresh air into the heavys and think he could clean up if politics dont get in the way ,froch is good think any top fighter would struggle against the cobra.

at british title leval paul applbey could go on to do similar to alex arthur in picking up the wbo,was pretty impresed by nathan cleverly the other night also.

think its hard to predict from the novice pros you really need to see them at domestic title leval first however 1 who sticks out is comonwealth gold meadal winner kenny anderson probably due to his power as you dont get to many british boxers with the ko punch to go with the skills. however as i said before untill hes boxed at british title leval its hard to judge.

its hard to see where the next calzaghe/hatton will come from though!

Not a chance.

Watch how 10 fight Richard Abril handles Prescott & his power... the manufacturing process was flawed and the Khan product came out irreperably faulty.

Disagree. If Khan learned some technique, he could be great. And it's not as if he's 32. The kid still has plenty of time.

It's amazing then when Khan first started, people were talking about him being the next Floyd Mayweather, then he got 'popular' and everyone was willing him to lose, and when he did, he became a talentless tuna can.

Gowd, Awfah!

All the technique in the world wont keep his chin safe.

As for any people who compared him to Floyd or Muhammad Ali, well.... there opinion doesn't merit serious discussion. HOLY CHRIST -- HE JUST BEAT DAVID 'YOUNG TYSON' BAILEY IN 1 ROUND!!! THIS BOYS THE GOODS I TELL YA!!!
