Haye Vs Wlad pencilled in for June 2009

From eastside
David Haye is in advanced negotiations to fight Wladimir Kltischko, his manager and trainer Adam Booth has revealed. According to Booth the fight will take place in the summer of 2009, depending on whether Haye and Kltischko can overcome their next opponents. In an interview on Setanta Sports News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Booth admitted ‘we’ve had communication’.

“We’ve discussed the fight happening next year in June, possibly in England and possibly at a football stadium. It’s clear that there’s pressure on David and the message is this, beating Monte Barrett isn’t good enough. He’s got to beat him and look good doing it.

“Everyday now we’re hell bent on making sure David does what he has to do in the gym to make it happen.”

Booth added that he had spoken with Klitschko’s people on a number of times and that all parties involved wanted the fight to take place.

“David has to do a job on November 15th at the O2 against Monte Barrett. Ift he does job we then go to watch Klitschko.

“If Klitschko beats Povetkin, which I’m confident that he will, then we’re going to sit down straight away and discuss one of the most exciting British fights to take place in recent years.”
I thought Haye was contracted to the O2 arena, so i was surprised to hear that they're looking at football stadiums

I don't for one minute believe the O2 Arena would be big enough, if Haye was to meet Wlad over here.

I heard that too. Plus GBP has a contract with AEG that owns the O2 to use it for promotions.

I agree that the arena would be too small, but isn't this breach of contract? 26, is this contract thing spurious?

There's a long way to go before this one comes into reality.

I could give Haye a bit of a chance against Wladimir, but if he gets into the ring agianst his better brother, i see Haye getting sparked sparko!

I would rather see him fight a couple of people Barrett and A N Other then go for Wlad

Barrett and then Wlad is way too soon.

What about getting active, gettig busy, learning different styles, seeing how he carries the weight?

It sounds like he just wants to see if he can maybe land his jackpot punch.

I can't believe he's being criticised for matching himself to aggressively. Barrett followed by Wlad next summer will do me nicely

Yeah but how about building up to the fight? Barrett a good preparation? Haye is going to encounter problems vs Wlad, but will he be ready for them. OK he's blown out some good, tall cruisers but this is something else entirely.

No one's damning Haye. It will be a nice big event and it's great that a Brit will test himself. But look at how Holyfield built himself into a cruiserweight.

AEG owns an ownership stake in GBP so can't see it being breach of contract, O2 would be far too small, perhaps AEG will leverage this to one of their big venues in the US?

Will Haye v Barrett sell the O2? I not sure of this.

The ticket prices are meaty Leforge - but all I can say at this stage is that they are selling well despite his.
We're just organising Ryan's tickets, and getting the lads from Sheffield down there.
Not a cheap night out at all.

Sounds like he doesn't want to risk losing before his shot at landing the big one on Wlads chin.

Say he bangs out Barrett, how about a big but 'relatively safe' test against a huge man like Jameel McCline? Or would McCline lasting the distance hurt his devastating puncher image? Maybe Rahman instead as his chin appears totally gone.

Haye should have at least one more fight, if he is to fight Vlad in June 2009; however, there is one very good reason why Haye would be keen to get it on with as few fights as possible: namely, that both men are so damn vulnerable.

Klitschko is a golden goose for Haye, because he is a big, big name at heavyweight, respected (until alst weekend) as the division number 1, but is so very chinny, short on stamina and an idea style mesh for Haye. But he could easily get knocked out by somebody else, which would ruin things for Haye. Equally Haye could get knocked out as well, or, at least not look impressive.

It all means that Haye at least needs to get to him in as few fights as possible.

Sorry, but Wlad keeps Haye on the end of his jab and cleans him out with a right hand...Haye is chinny himself but hasnt got the physical attributes to hide that weakness!!! Wlad KO mid-rounds

And Vitali would do him early

It will be fun while it lasts and the nation would come to a standstill but Haye will NOT win

Haye is quick to give Khan advice, but isnt Haye doing a Khan wanting to fight for a title without working his way up. To me taking on Wlad so soon is very risky. This could all end in tears.

This is great news so far. We'll have to wait and see how their fights go this year though.

Haye was on "A Question Of Sport" last weekend and he said he'll be fighting Sam Peter in 2009. I found that quite interesting, and very confusing. When would that take place?

This has to be a joke, There no way Kltischko would come to the uk to fight Haye. We seen the shows and crowds he can draw in Germany. All Booth is trying to do is try to hype up a fight on Nov 15 which is not selling. And if Haye steps in with Kltischko next after one fight in the heavyweight div. it shows all he is after is the money. There no way he would be ready for a fight as big as this next time up. Kltischko would be to big and stronge for Haye keeping him on the end of that great long jab and land that right cross on haye every time he lets it go.Kltischko is not a gifted boxer but a master of the left jab and holding stopping the other guy from working after he has landed that jab. Also there no way this fight would sell out a football stadium. Let face it outside of boxing who knows Kltischko, and is Haye a household name i do not think so. He has never sold out a venue yet. I would bet Nov 15 is going to be a hard sale for Haye and Booth.

Haye just want's to get to the top asap and utilise his potential while he feel's in such good condition.

It could be a mistake or a masterstroke, But as some have already said Wlad is vulnerable so why wait and give somebody else the chance to dethrone him.

Also Haye is not a Boxing fan so it wouldn't surprise me if he already has plan's for his future.

Wild Waylon,
You really take the biscuit.
Khan / Haye careers to date.
Haye doing a Khan ??
You're from the planet Zanussi mate.
Give me Haye's approach any day, cleaning out one division then stepping up.
OK he might come unstuck - but at least he's having a go.
I give up.

I dont think you can argue with that. It would be a huge surprise to me if WK travelled anywhere than maybe to the US if a yank emerged that sold tickets.

Cant see him travelling to the UK, that's never going to happen. He's by miles a bigger draw in Germany than Haye is in the UK.

I understand what you mean, Haye has an exceptional record at CW and as careers go the two men cant be compared. My point is, now Haye is a HW he wants to go for the title too soon without testing himself with the likes of say Williams or Skelton who are good domestics. Khan too ignored the domestics and was in a rush to get a title shot and came unstuck. I just think Haye would do better taking his time, hes young enough. Its a different world for him taking on people inches taller and stones heavier. Yes he is having a go, and lets hope for him and British boxing his career up at HW goes well. I apologize if what I wrote was misleading.

Hey mate, don't dream about apologising to a no mark like me !
All I would say is there's a World of difference in stepping up to the level of Prescott, and the likes of Barratt and Wlad.
Promotionally, Williams and Skelton would be non starters anyway, and with respect, what would Haye prove knocking them over ?
