MARK THOMPSON - Celebrated the signing of a new contract with VIP by beating Gatis Skuja over 6 rounds at York Hall and moved his record to 18-17-1-0 . It was a steady if not spectacular performance by Mark ,but the most important thing was getting the rounds out and banking some experiences for the challenges ahead. Mark has been nominated to box Amar Adnan for the English Welterweight title which seems an odd one with Mark expecting to be in a Final eliminator for the British with either John O’Donnell or Young Muttley after Tony Doherty withdrew from their eliminator .
JAMIE MOORE – Also signed a new contract this week but unfortunately he did not get good news , the purse bids for his EBU title fight with Italian M Piccirillo have been put back to the 14th November 2008 – this title shot just seems to drag on and on!!!
MIKE GOMEZ – Had his second win within a month beating Baz Carey on points in Scotland . Mike has now had 46 Pro fights and hopes to take this up to 50 within 6 months and win a title whilst doing it . A big challenge , but who would back against him achieving it ????.
GARY SYKES – Has been nominated to box Carl Johansson in a British Eliminator at Super-Featherweight . This is a big ask for the Yorkshire man unbeaten in only 9 fights ,but one he is up for should it happen .
CHRIS JOHNSON – Has been added as a reserve for the Prize-fighter Welterweight tournament at York Hall this Friday the 24th October
NOVEMBER 7TH AT WIGAN – What a card this is turning out to be with Mark Thompson , Martin Murray , Tommy McDonough , Karl Place and Paul Edwards being added onto the 4 cracking fights announced last week – this is definitely one not to be missed, tickets available on

BLACKPOOL TOWER 22ND NOVEMBER 2008 - Another Channel M filmed VIP show has just been announced and it will be a 10 fight mega show including Brian Rose , Jack Arnfield , Jon Kays , Chris Johnson , Matthew Ellis , Chris O’Brian , Stuart McFadyen , Lee Jennings , Rick Goddins and Alex Mattvienko - tickets available from all boxers , the tower or

That would be about right if you had any hair to pull out! :P
In all seriousness though it is well harsh that a fighter of your ability is losing months and months of his prime waiting for the slow wheels of boxing bearuacracy to turn, Jamie.
You will just have to make sure that when you finally do get Piccirillo in the ring you give him a good pasting to take out your frustrations!

Lets hope Moore's European title bout is in England! We all know what can happen when a fight is in Italy!

Stegsie,
Am I missing something here ?
Didn't you say at the beginning of October that you had until 21st to sort out a private agreement ?
Why didn't that happen ?
Were this guy's demands too high ?
Surely the best approach by the Promotor was to make him an offer he couldn't refuse ?
OK Jamie would have had to take the short end, but isn't that a gamble well worth while to secure the fight ?
I just think it's highly dangerous to allow this to go to purse bids.

Is it maybe time to start thinking about a different route? The light middleweight division is hardly littered with top names, surely a fighter as exciting as Mooresy would have other options or is the money just not there?

I don't understand why Moore doesn't find himself another promoter. Warren or Hennessy would open more doors than Maloney seems to be capable of.

Look at the wider picture sweetscience.
There are numerous posters on here who have joined recently.
It cannot be a coincidence that they all jump to Wazza's defence on each and every subject and slag off at the drop of a hat every other Promotor.
I'm not the troll mate, look at the number of posts.
Then take a look at the new posters with 10 to 20 posts who then disappear, and how many of those posts are on the subject of defending Wazza and slagging others.
I have no interest whatsoever in SN activities. After their latest piss take with the Brook McIntyre affair I ain't wasting my time.
However, when unjustified shit is thrown at others by this mob, then yes I will react as have others.
Rhodes is not "my boy", and what has he got to do with this ?
Anyway back to the thread.
Hopefully Jamie gets this fight, but I would be interested in knowing why a deal couldn't be struck before going to purse bids.

Fair comment mate.
Maybe I should ignore it, but some of the shit being thrown is outrageous - and in some cases personal.

Hopefully Mooresy gets a fight on that Hatton-Malignaggi undercard. That might be good. Would have been a great fight him vs either Angulo or McEwan.
The EBU certainly aren't being any good to him are they?
Mooresy's a very good pressure fighter & I hope all this EBU rubbish doesn't stop us from seeing his best.

Great news - the Yanks will love the way he goes about business.. lets hope the fight makes the televised portion of the card.
McEwan is too green for Moorsey and would get chewed up and spat out if they were to fight soon IMO.
I would steer clear of the rampaging Angulo too - he and Jamie are too similar as fighters and neither would give ground. It would be a hard, tough, brutal fight. Certainly worth it if a title was on the line but not as a regular/routine 10 rounder IMO.

I don't think there is any news. I just recall someone saying that there was a chance to get on the Hatton card. But that was a while ago.

My bad - I was speeding through your post and thought I read he WOULD be on the Hatton card.
It would be sweet if he was - Jamie Moore's style is made for America! (having that Irish title belt doesnt hurt either

)

Cool. I think if Moore could land an opponent like Angulo, that he wouldn't need to wait for the likes of Baysangurov, Piccirillo & the EBU.
