weve all played them . Fight night , Ko Kings etc etc , but whos played the management type games and which do u like . i currently own Title Bout (out of the park developments ) ,Worldwide Boxing Manager (Proline /dtp) and Boxing manager Pro edition (downloaded trial that you pay for full version online) . title bout is the best but doesnt have the same management level im looking for , i once downloaded one called WCBM (world championship boxing manager ) but the people who made it (clara.net) dont appear to exist anymore so cannot pay for the full version (if anyone has a reg key for this would be greatly appreciated ) i just dont seem to be able to find a great management sim for boxing . i even posted on football managers forum begging them to create a boxing management game as i reckon the job they did on the football game shows they could make a great in depth game but they just said a flat simple NO , i think there linked somehow to out of the park developments who make title bout . i just want realism , i want to be able to attempt to sign the top local talent work them up through area , national and continental rankings onto the world stage , negotiate purses , hire venues , trainers cut men etc etc , it would be a great game and really popular in my opinion . what do you guys think , who plays a good boxing management sim , who wants what i want and who thinks im talking bollocks .

If you can get an emulator for the one of the old 8-bit computers, there was a game in the early 90s called World Championship Boxing Manager (no relation to the clara.net one, despite the name), which was exactly as you described. Obviously the graphics are extremely hokey now, but the sim is still worth looking at. A top 100, two sanctioning bodies, you can sign five fighters, work them through Area, National and World levels, sign new talent at the start of each year (or yours may leave you if you didn't meet the contracted demands).

This wasn't bad for pure simulation but is a bit out of date now

I loved this game. Used to love getting an area shot quite quickly and telling my man after the 3rd round to headbutt so we would win on cuts. Genius. But then when I got Tommy Morrison to the top he would fornicate off and leave me. Loved the way out of your 5 boxers one would be world champ and the rest would be a sliding scale of rubbish. Wish I could get this for my mac!

Title bout was brilliant. I had the baord game abck in the 1980s. Got the old PC sim. Haven't dug it out in a while.

Not so bothered in management but more just being like some sort of God of a universe of boxing...

We've all had the "If you were Abramovich and took over your team who would you buy...?" Well what if you had the billions and decided to make boxing the number 1 sport in the world. What would you do? Money talks and if you have deep enough pockets the possibilities are endless.

I remember BM boxing. It is a different game to what oliver is talking about, in BM you started at the bottom of the league and fought you way into title contention whilst improving your stamina and power ect. Good game. Who remembers george formans KO boxing on the snes where you could challenge for real titles i.e wbc wba and ibf. Brilliant game.

Sorry I know that.... my mistake. I remember BM boxing well, I ALSO had a managers game on the CC64. and was wondering if the managers game was the same.

the title bout ive got aint from the 80s though , ive got one with current boxers(at time of release ) legends etc and a forum to upload new fighters from and also can be edited so you can manually add new fighters , world titles etc edit the records of fighters , change the ratings for example making amir kahn more prone to knockdowns etc , its your world , you can then creat fight cards , tournaments , the worlds your oyster ideal if you wanna play god of boxing but lacks a manager mode although you can act as a fighters corner man and choose tactics etc throughout fights . i personally choose 3 fighters and fight people within 5 ranks of the fighters and manage their corner to see who i can take to a world title , its good but Audley is actuall reasonably good so that HAS to be edited

Got to be careful with these kinds of games. In the late 90s I used to play this football manager sim called Championship Manager.... Like Title Blout ebfore it I got a bit addicted. I remember being in the pub with a mate talking about some Argentinian superstar teenage prospect, when it dawned on me that I'd never seen the bloke play. I'd just seen his name and columns of numbers on a computer screen. Started to doubt my sanity at that moment...

Title Bout is fun but it loses its novelty very quickly because it makes you do all the work.

It is essentially just a database and an engine with no focused structure to make a "game" out of it. I also think that upsets happen on it WAY too often. If I set Floyd Mayweather to fight the same hopeless bum 20 times in a row, he'd probably come out 17-3 or something which just isn't believable.

I have often thought about doing a web game where people could set themselves up as promoters and we'd use fighters from the database and use the engine to determine results. Was never sure if there'd be enough interest in it though.

I'd love to have a Boxing game like the Championship Manager. With loads of details it would be class.

They've never really made anything that is that good though.

I'm sure if the game was done with as much detail and was as good as Championship Manager people who aren't big fight fans would play it.

i hope so , it sounds great . i just tried to download 2.5 last night but when i try to install it , it just aint hapening , get some error message , tried several times but ended up having to moan on their forum .hopefully someone will get it sorted.

it aint the direct x , it just says : failed integrity check , try downlading again(or something along those lines )

Title Bout is more of a sim than anything allowing you to match fighters from any era against each other (Dempsey v Ali for example). It is not a management game in the true sense.

The much rumoured third version was to contain a management option but the programmer has recently admitted that due to lack of time it is unlikely to see the light of day.

The boards are on the whole, friendly with just the odd idiot, bit like any board really.

Everyone, if you are interested or hadnt heard of it already, check out the BoxRecSim section, on the Index Page. We use the Titlebout software to sim fights, but all you lot do is trashtalk each other and match fighters, I do all the work in terms of feeding the machine.

This season is closed, but next season (25+ weeks away, sorry) is going to be with us sooner than you think.
