Setanta advertised on their website that they would broadcast Pacman's next fight after he beat David Diaz. Now the fight is on Sky, so I sent this letter to Setanta:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been a subscriber to Setanta sports for some time now. The reason I signed up is because Setanta is "the home of boxing". After I signed up, Setanta signed a deal with Top Rank promotions to show fights involving, among others, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto. After Manny Pacquiao beat David Diaz it was stated on the Live boxing section of Setanta sports website that Setanta would also be brodcasting Manny Pacquiao's next fight. This persuaded me to stay subscribed to Setanta.

Now it has been announced that Manny Pacquiao will be fighting Oscar de la Hoya on SKY box office. So Setanta will not be showing the fight, despite clearly advertising to customers that they would be. I understand Oscar de la Hoya is a Golden Boy fighter and as such the bill is co-promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy but co-promotions are always a possibility in boxing. If there was a chance that the fight would not be shown it should not have been advertised.

I therefore think it is unfair that I have paid £12.99 a month, keeping my subscription mainly to see fights that have been advertised yet find that the advertising was false. I will watch the other fights that are being shown by Setanta and therefore dont want to cancel my subscription, but I dont believe that subscribers should be treated this way.

I request a response to this email addressing the false advertising by setanta.

I don't think its right that Setanta can advertise big shows then pull them from their schedule without saying anything. So whats your bets on me getting a worthwhile response? :)

I was thinking the exact same thing today when I read in BN that Pac-DLH was on Sky. I only sorted Setanta last week. My gruntle has indeed been dissed.

You're spot on, mate. They also advertised Antonio Margarito's next fight but I hear that it will be on Sky Sports, and possibly Sky Box Office (the headliner for Khan's next fight like Sky are doing on the 6th December) if he fights Shane Mosley.

Call up, complain and you'll get it for £6.50 for 3 months, then do the same 3 months later or cancel

That means Khan'll fight in Jan. Keeping Him busy.

I don't think you will get anywhere.

Schedules are always subject to change.

If they can demonstrate at the time of advertising they had the intention to show the fight, there isn't much that can be done really.

Broadcasters typically have deals with promoters. If fighters switch camps suddenly, there isn't much can be done....
