The shot of Lorenzo Safora on the cover of Knockout Magazine reminded me of events in the life of his opponent that week, Bobby Jackson. You see, Jackson was really a kid from Colorado named Cecil Romero. He was a GI when he first showed in our area, putting up some terrific fights with foes like Fabela Chavez and that category. He was managed by a former Pro football coach, Dan Barnhart.

Unforunately, Bobby was one of those fighters whose facial skin was cut very easily, causing him all kinds of trouble in his fights. One thing was certain when he fought there was going to be bloodshed, always.

More importantly after Bobby retired he became a City Councilman at nearby Azusa, and that's about the time I lost track of him. He was an action fighter every time who would fight like a liion once he felt himself cut around the eyes.
