MACCARINELLI/BANKS ON AT EXCEL DEC 6TH!

Decent addition to a decent enough bill, fancy Enzo to do a job on Banks after watching the guy against Rossitto on one of the big German bills recently.

He seems an on top fighter and not sure he will compete with the Welshman's jab and can see him being kept off balance, if Enzo starts fast

Although he can bang so Enzo will need to get to Banks first I reckon, he would not want to be taking too many from the Kronk fighter.

Banks won't get anywhere near him.

I know I'll be alone in this, but despite his lazy performance in Germany or whereveer it was, I think Banks is awkward and strong enough to beat Enzo. It seems unlikely Enzo would be risked unduly given his elevated status within the FW stable but I think Banks is under-rated on the last showing.

Sure he's languid but he is a rounded operator of the bits and pieces I've seen and it doesn't take much to work around Enzo's game.

Fair play to FWTV. The card is looking better and better.

Good point. What are the chances for us going from 2 great fight cards to none.

What always concerns me is that we all know Wazza can put good bills together like this.
So why doesn't he on a regular basis ?
Why has it taken Hennessy putting on a decent show on terrestrial television to make him get his finger out of his arse ?
I wonder if Pryce will also be added now.

Swansea's Enzo Maccarinelli squares up to unbeaten American Jonathon Banks in a good-looking showdown for the vacant WBO cruiserweight title on the Khan-Fagan bill in London on December 6.
The title was made vacant by new heavyweight hope (fingers crossed) David Haye.
Maccarinelli was blown away by Haye earlier this year in London but the big-hitting, 28-year-old Welshman is something of a slow starter and wants his pride back, along with the WBO belt, a belt he picked up with a stunning eight-round knockout of Argentine iron man Marcelo Dominguez in Cardiff in 2006, the first and only time Dominguez has been stopped, and defended four times. Then came Haye, who made cruiserweight without weakening himself (as Maccarinelli's camp had gambled) and proved much too quick and powerful.
It was Maccarinelli's first defeat in eight years.
Banks also looms as a threat. The Detroiter, trained by the legendary Emanuel Steward, spars regularly with Wladimir Klitschko and is thus accustomed to rangy, heavy-handed fighters in the Maccarinelli mould, although Banks was down twice against Cuban Eliseo Castillo in a 2006 shootout in New York, before rallying to win in the fourth round, and barely outscored mediocre Italian Vincenzo Rossitto on a majority 12-round decision a few months ago in Germany, the same Rossitto outclassed in two rounds by Haye in 2005 in Huddersfield. This evens things up on paper. Make no mistake, Banks and Maccarinelli are well-matched, two big, strong, quick, rather fragile punchers.
Still, the 26-year-old Banks is quite inexperienced at world level at 20-0 (14), and on British soil the more tested Maccarinelli looks the favourite.

Great fight for Enzo and a great chance to be a champion again. Banks is tough and getting him out wont be easy. Both fighters can bang so either can win it but I lean towards Enzo getting the job done. I think it may go the distance, but Enzo needs to be very careful early on, being a slow starter.

So why match him so competitively, if the impact of the Haye defeat is so severe ?
Is Wazza hanging him out to dry, because he's defecting to Calzaghe Promotions ?
I don't believe that - but we shall see.

i think you may have a point there '26' warrenis in a win win situation, if macca wins then warren can reap some income off a real title tilt for enzo, if enzo loses then warren can turf him out to grass. anyone know any details of enzos current contract with SN

I am just thankful for a competetive matchup for a change and as usual the old phrase "It could have been worse" springs to mind. Remember this is the same Enzo that has been previously matched with Marco Heinichen, Bobby Gunn, a shot-to-shit Rich LaMontagne etc. so we should be welcoming the Banks fight.

According to a recent BN interview Banks and Steward seemed to suggest that Banks has struggled with mediocre opposition because he is one of these rare breeds that performs better when you offer him stronger and more dangerous opposition. With Enzo being the best opponent so far that he will of faced as a pro, then we shall see whether they were telling porkies or not. Personally I expect a replica of the Wayne Braithwaite fight, but we shall wait and see.

You're not alone. I said something similar just after the Rossitto fight. I favour Macca, but Banks isn't bad and has good power.

If the card looks like Banks/Maccarinelli, Cook/TBA, Audley/Rogan and Khan/Fagan the day before then I will be buying this PPV - not to you get mention Pacman/Oscar and Juanma Lopez/Medina. I think that's a good deal. It's certainly better than the last PPV Franky Boy put up for us and well worth £15 me thinks.

No chance, he'll KO Banks, the guy is nothing special.

Macarinelli was overrated in my opinion - and obviously some of yours - but he's better than this guy and still has a big punch.
