What are your top 5 british lightweight rankings?
This is my ranking:
1.Thaxton
2.John Murray
3.Amir Khan
4.Willie Limond
5.Martin Gethin
How would it change if Khan wins impressively against Fagan?

It's very tough deciding who goes where. I think they're interchangeable. I don't think most people will want to move Khan up unless they see him either taking a good shot or avoiding punches. If he KOs Fagan early it won't answer our questions.

1.Thaxton
2.John Murray
3.Martin Gethin
4.Amir Khan
5.Willie Limond
Amir Khan doesn't go up in the ratings if he beats Fagan. However impressively he does it.

I don't like Limond being ahead of Gethin off the back of a decent performance against Khan. I think wins against Fewkes and Siddique are better than anything Limond has done at the weight.
Other than that, fair enough. Although for me a decent performance against Fagan puts Khan above Murray

I'd agree with that, but Khan has the ability to beat all three above him, but until the fights happen or beats someone else of note, then he'll stay there.

You're only as good as your last fight.

That list is daft, come on. Khan has beaten better than Murray, and despite losing to Prescott he should be second.
To have him behind Gethin is a joke and smacks of pettiness.

Khan´s wins still stack up, Limond, Gomez, Earl, St.Clair, Kristianson
In Comparison Gethin has beaten Siddique and Fewkes, and Murray has only beaten Meager.
Thaxton prob just squeezes in at no 1 due to his recent Euro success, but the Spaniard was nothing special

Better than St Clair? Or Earl?

yes, IMO: St Clair old and not a lightweight and he didn't remotely try to win against Khan, Earl? what? do you need me to explain why Fewkes or Siddique were better wins than a post-Katsidis Earl who even looked to be walking into the ring on his heels?

at the time earl was a serious threat, he was the number 1 UK lightweight
its alright saying that he is shot to shite now, but at the time it was unknown
Gethin & Khan have better wins than Murray, that is a fact
so i could 'understand' people putting Gethin above khan, but dont understand why murray.... can someone explain ???? i hate SN & Popular rich boxers is not a valid response

SS I wouldn't agree Earl was a serious threat
I recall saying, along with many others before the khan fight, 'surely Earl will have nothing left after the Katsidis beating' for me the khan fight simply rubber-stamped the fact that earl was shot, rather than proving that fact for the first time
khan having better wins than Murray, you may have a point there i was just batting in the corner of the west midlands lad again :)

i still dont get why Murray is above khan (or gethin), he has only beat Meager, and come on, is meager even top ten in GB anymore and has ever been top 5 in his life

It shows. Come back when you have a more well rounded opinion.
Earl wasn't SHOT going into Khan fight, he was still dangerous. Siddique a bigger win than St Clair? Give me a break mate.

SN/Khan hatred seriously affects boxrec posters views on boxing
why people (no involved in the business aspect) are more intersted in the politics than the actual fights is beyond me

CH: St Clair was in that ring for no other reason than to pick up a paycheck, could you name me one time in that fight he actually he looked like he was trying to win? personally i reank fighters on competitive fights not glorified 12 round sparring sessions. you want a 'rounded opinion', tell you waht don't just go with the SN propaganda telling you St Clair is 'world class' (maybe he was once but he sure wasn't there to win that night) and Earl was 'dangerous'
and jeez, if Earl was 'still dangerous' going into the Khan fight and WASN'T shot- how come he disintegrated so quickly? how come he was monging round the ring like some bad cartoon zombie?he may as well have gone into the ring half-concussed he reacted to those shots so badly. so what we have here people is a fighter who wasn't shot going into the khan fight, and who took maybe 6 or 7 shots from khan, and WAS shot after it.... I simply disagree, i thought he was shot before
SS i guess Murray gets a break for the ''0' in his record and for being british champ. maybe also for not being an SN fighter? edit: i agree on the SN hate mate

im not specifically defending any of Khans oppos, i agree that St Clair wasnt in there to win at all costs....but was Billy Smith x 2
facts are facts he has a better resume than Murray, this is undeniable
if he gets beat by Fagan, then khan is out of the top ten in my book also, but one loss of a serious banger (KO's mean you punch, TKO can be misguiding) then he shouldnt drop below an untested fighter

I don't think there is one poster - with perhaps the exception of Boxing Chat - who is in any way influenced by SN thinking mate.
Khan beat Sinclair with ease, and he was a solid opponent with pedigree. Look outside your bubble. I'm writing this as a neutral.

my apologies you said Earl was dangerous I personally couldn't see how anyone outside the SN hype-bubble would think that, guess we'll agree to disagree on that one

Not a problem, I'm not a Khan lover by any means, he just has a beter resume and in my opinion is number two behind Thaxton. I have faith in the kid.....
