Sky Sports - Ignorant ?

No where on Skysports news etc have i heard anything mentioned about Calzaghe fighting.

OK ok i know a rival tv station is screening the bout, but imagine if England were playing in the world cup and it was on ITV or BBC, you'd hear everything about rah rah rah just as you would if Sky were showing it themselves.

There has not been a mention of it on SSN, and their website is all about Ricky Hatton. One of the biggest sporting events in the second half of the year and not a single mention of it. Ignorant pudenda.

Yeah agreed it is quite pathetic.

It was funny when Hatton all of a sudden went off the Sky radar when the Castillo fight was on Setanta.

Also I cannot believe the Sun editor is so toothless that he allowed FW to reprint YET AGAIN his whining diatribe about what-I-did-for-Joe.

Seriously, any danger of getting a boxing columnist that wants to talk about boxing??

Not just sky

Did you hear during the Witter fight when they were talking about the fact that his reflexes could deteriorate as he gets older...they mentioned RJJ getting KO'd twice as an example of this

Sky aren't going to publicise a fight that doesn't involve them.

Excellent thread.

I note Sky Sports are full of Ricky Hatton now but there was a time last year they did not even mention him - yet behind the scenes they were still trying to negoitiate a another contract with him!!!

In America, HBO and Showtime are like this, somewhat.

On nights when they both had shows at the same time, HBO would sometimes reveal spoilers of the Showtime events.

Sky Sports might also want to take a leaf out of the ITV4 show last Saturday.

Not a single title fight in sight, and did it detract from the entertainment provided :?? ....not a bit. Infact it was a refreshing change! :TU:

If it didn't air on Sky Sports then as far as they're concerned it didn't happen.

But setanta give some press to Sky fights on Bunce's boxing hour. It's amazing there was no acknowledgement of it.

It doesnt make business sense though does it, to advertise someone elses product. They hardly touch F1 either, and the olympics passed them by without much coverage.

It's normal process from Sky Sports News, as well as what Wales has said they also don't really spend too much time publicising summer football tournaments. It's a news roundup of Sports that they show.

Rather than being surprised at this, I was more pleasantly surprised at the amount of coverage Bunce's show gives to Sky fights.

they don't even mention the scores of football matches that are going out live on Setanta on Sky Sports News, so a 'minority sport' like ours has no chance of getting a mention on it.
SSN is just a promotional vehicle for their three sports channels really.

This is another Gold Star for Setanta, as they freely mention other than channels and events on other channels. It's petty not to imo
