Reigning British light-middleweight champion Ryan Rhodes features in a good 12-rounder on the Haye-Barrett heavyweight bill this Saturday against South African dangerman Vincent "The Rock" Vuma.
Vuma made a name for himself here when he halted Lancashire's previously unbeaten Mark Thompson in eight exciting rounds in Wigan last year, although the gutsy Thompson, just a welterweight, had stepped in for an injured Jamie Moore and did have his moments. Still, Vuma brings a hot 13-fight winning streak into this one and Rhodes, who has won 15 of his last 16, needs to be ready. The Sheffield southpaw struggled a bit last time out against gutsy Scot Jamie Coyle in defence his British title, winning on points, but he possesses strength, boxing ability, a sneaky right hand and plenty of experience (a pro since 1995).
Rhodes looks to have the edge all round and boxes and punches his way to a hard-earned decision.

Well there can be no excuses at this end.
Prep has gone to plan, good training camp, weight a breeze again.
I hope a stoppage, but will take a points decision.
I think Ryan's experience will see him through.
If it is points I expect a wide margin.

Really hope Ryan comes through this, although he don't want to let Vuma get any sort of foothold because it could get tough late on.
26, Will this be live do you know or will Setanta just show a recording or highlights during the evening?
Hope its definately live

Could possibly be the best fight of the night.
A lot hinges on this fight for Ryan. I think the fight is a lot closer than a lot of people are forecasting - personally I think Ryan has to fight every minute of every round - remember guys 3 officials from the WBC are scoring this fight so there is no chance of Ryan getting a "home fighter" decision here.
Don't get me wrong - Ryan Rhodes should win the fight - but he will know he has been in a scrap - Ouma is no fool and I think Rhodes needs to be at his very best.

I saw the Thompson fight. Thompson was a fair bit greener than he looked last week but Vuma looked slick.
Good fight. Rhodes was hot and (very) cold last time out so I'm not betting on this.
Anyone know the start time for this one? Or a full running order?

Rhodes will be in around 10 pm.
I think everything will be clarified at the weigh in tomorrow.
The running order might be circulated at the press conference today.

Vuma by late TKO, but I hope I'm wrong.
I was at ringside for the Thompson fight - ouch. Just ask Wales and TD.
Ryan is a lot more experienced and a better boxer than Mark, but I don't think he punches harder.
We'll see.......I'll be rooting for Rhodes though.

Im rooting for Ryan, but Vuma is a handful, so cant see it as a nailed on win for Ryan.
Like others have said, when Mooresy pulled out and Oliver Harrison put Mark in to fight Vuma instead, he was a bit green and was ground down and stopped.
Mark had his spells and dropped him along the way - but Vuma was a good fighter.
He probably sits somewhere between Euro and World class level.

You can get 10/3 on Vuma at Bet365. That sounds like a steal, but as I really want Ryan to win I won't enjoy the fight as much if I bet on Vuma

I see this as a 50/50 fight, hopefully Hayemaker are starting as they intend to go on. So if i can get those 3/1 odds on Vuma i know who i'll be rooting for!
But i would like to see Rhodes get through this, if only to see him defend his British title against Anthony Small who might not be quite as good as he thinks he is, but doesn't get the respect his talent deserves from everyone else.

yeah, cant believe how big a favourite rhodes is. even if rhodes was at his mid 90's peak, id still say this was a very tough fight. i think Vuma gets a late tko imo.

Ryan Rhodes is one dam good bloke and I would love to see him win. Ouma or whatever his name is, is well chilled and looks massive at the weight to me - the fight is going to be the closest of the night - Ouma has been hanging around with his pal Cassius Baloyi who is the IBF Champion Of the World - the both of them have been non stop laughing and seem well relaxed.
Dam good fight - and for me to close to call.

Was chatting to Vuma today - he is a good guy - but there again Ryan Rhodes looks fit and raring to go as well - to those who think that is always said - I remember seeing Ryan on a Hennessy show a few years back and he looked gaunt and not well at all - this time around he looks healthy, well relaxed and just as chilled as Vuma.
thats the reason why I see this fight being very close indeed - I always have a sneaky suspicion of South African fighters - because of their background they seem so much hungrier for success - seriously think this is the fight of the night - really looking forward to it.
