Been told he is turning soon - I thought the wage demands were a tadge ambitious.

Out of all the amateurs at the Olympics who do you guys think is best equipped for the professional ranks??

Really do not know too much about Degale, until of course the olympics. My feeling is that winning a medal at the Olympics is not as special as it was a few years back which for me is bloody madness - I honestly thought after Degale got back the hype and media coverage surrounding him would have gone absolutely nuts - doesn't seem to be the case now which is why I feel a promoter could possibly get him on the cheapish!!!

In Degale's case unless a big money offer is on the table - surely lottery funding could mean it worth while him staying where he is - there is a trail of thought he will fight far higher quality opponents as an amateur rather than the "kid gloves treatment he will receive for the first couple of years of a professional career.

What do you lot think?

After Audley in 2000 and Amir in 2004, their subsequent pro careers have severely diminished DeGales value -- plus DeGale himself isn't exactly likeable is he?

He's also got an ugly hands down leaning back showboat style that probably wont hold up in the pro ranks.

It seems to be a great problem when a young fighter makes loads of money before they've really done anything in the pros. They get steered away from any fight deemed slightly losable, make loads of money and then seem to get exposed.

I think Andre Ward might end up best off, as he's doing it under the radar, has something to prove, plans to fight a dangerous top contender. If it goes right, he'll earn his riches in the big fights, and he will learn enough to hang with the bad asses.

Thats the name of the game in the pro ranks, money!!

And it's not also the boxer who wants to make it, the promoter needs to protect his boxer , but at the same time make the biggest profit.

Sadly you don't see a really satisfying learning curve, to prepare them for higher levels. Too often, boxing is not just about making as much money as possible with a long term goal, but making as much as you can, as fast as you can, with poor consequences for later on.

DeGale was saying he had talks with quite a few, Bob Arum was one of them.
I can't see him going pro in the US though, as he would have limited fanbase there.

Would Hayemaker be interested? as they have Groves .

Anyone know if Kenny Eagon is going pro? I think he'd do quite well.
