Didnt even know there were music awards on in the venue, let alone a stabbing...

The incident caused chaos and halted proceedings at the Urban Music Awards on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old was arrested after a brawl had broken out about an hour and a half into the ceremony at the indigO2.

Guests were sent heading for the exits as bottles and furniture flew, causing dozens of police to descend on the venue.

Those who attended the awards said they were surprised by the light security arrangements.

Natalie Williams, 32, said: "There was no security, nothing. Before anything even happened I commented to my boyfriend, because we live nearby and come here a lot, and we usually get screened coming into the building."

A 27-year-old suffered serious stab wounds and remains in an east London hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A second man was also taken to hospital for treatment, with suspected cuts from flying glass. A third man was also injured slightly.

During the initial confusion on Saturday night, it was initially thought three men had been stabbed.

The Metropolitan Police said the man arrested was bailed late last night to return to a south London police station in January next year.

Hundreds of guests at the awards show were detained for several hours and questioned one at a time.

Noticed the O2 have them scanners at the entrance - but they only check people entering the main entrance who have a bag!! :o :o

The rest can just walk in. I know plenty of security companies frisk people at the entrance - I have to say this may have happened but I did not see a lot of that going on at the O2.

Will watching boxing ever be a safe past time?

Ive had a lucky escape when at a Hatton gig some people overheard a friend and i talking about football, heard we were United fans, and decided a screw driver to the ribs might be in order*.

Wrong on so many levels

*The fact i was wearing lipstick probably didn't help, either
