I keep reading in the press about Stamford Bridge hosting the potential Haye - Klitschko fight.... but where have all these rumours come from?

I was under the impression that Haye had a contract with the 02, exclusively, for his next few fights?

I've seen no mention of Haye himself saying it, so is it just paper talk, or has it come from Chelsea? Either way, the press have made no mention of his contract/agreement with the 02...

Any ideas?

The only thing I have heard is that the officials from Chelsea have said that they would welcome the chance to stage this fight. I don't think anything has come from HayMaker Promotions. Furthermore, I would bet that it's just speculation at the moment.

Makes no sense, they would never come close to filling the stadium. If Haye cannot fill the 02, then they ain't going to be shelling out on Chelsea stadium

He needs another fight in March with cheaper prices he get over 10,000 at o2.

I'm certain Haye could get 20,000+ for the fight. The difference between it and the last fight is:

a) Ticket prices will be more reasonable/justified
b) It's (sort of) for the undisputed HW title, ergo the armchair fan is more interested

The 19000 for the Macca fight couldn't have been just for Enzo! With the right publicity, this could easily sell out.

More likely to fill the New den than stamford bridge. The undercard has to be better. He needs another fight though before world title shot?

pointless having an outdoor show in uk in may, FFS, we cant even depend on the weather in july let alone may. if its gonna be a stadium fight then it needs to be at wembley or millenium stadium because they have roofs !!!

I'm sure Haye mentioned in his postfight interview that he could fight the Klits at a football stadium next summer

It'd be a bigger fight in Germany. Boxing's much bigger there. The Klits have a bigger following there than Haye does here.

I am led to believe Hayemake have a contract with Setanta but not the O2 Arena for future fights - but may well stand corrected on that one.

I am positive whatever happens the next fight Haye will be more popular - in addition we are in a massive financial crisis in this country - I don't blame people one bit for counting their pennies and it is my opinion O2 Arena got it completely wrong.

But hey lets move on - the next fight I am sure will have a few more thousand on the gate where ever it is staged!!!

Was what I was trying to allude to mate. AEG set the prices, not Hayemaker. I thought their contract was exclusivity for 3 fights, but stand to be corrected.

Either way I'll be there with a stick up me arse.

Does anyone here actually think that Hayemaker can outbid the Klitschko's and get the fight to England?

Certainly campaigning at heavyweight will only enhance his ability to draw a crowd - and to be fair there wasn't a bad crowd at the 02, but it unlikely he was ever going to fill it.

Haye would be best served having another exciting warm up to build some interest in the Klitchsko fights. People over here probably don't know the brothers all that well, or at least aren't that hot on them.

The fight really makes a lot more sense in Germany - both the Klitchsko's are immensely popular there, and big TV stars too, and the fight could be staged at 2 AM for the American market.

AEG also have an arena in Berlin. A German woman told me they regularly get 25 million viewers for terrestrial boxing.

Getting a boxer like Monte Barrett over here is a world away from the money needed to tempt either of the Klitchsko's over here.

I just can't see the Klitchsko's giving up home ground and the support, unless Hayemaker come in with a unbelievable offer, and have they the resources to do that?

I've read that last year the Klitschkos were at a Chelsea game, Michael Ballack (a friend of theirs by all accounts) scored the only goal. They stated then that they'd love to fight there at Stamford Bridge. I believe this current story is a re-hash of what was said last year. :??

Then again I could be completely wrong

Precisely - the fight is much bigger in Germany, they Klits can easily draw 20,000 for a fight there, plus huge viewing figures, what rationale sees how Haye could afford to pay the big Klit what he would ask for in order to come over and concede home ground. It just doesn't add up.

Where do Hayemaker and Goldenboy find the several million pounds to pay Vitali off? They would need a massive crowd, at least 5 times anything Haye has drawn thus far.

Could the Stamford Bridge link be a bit of an Eastern Block link with Abramovich at Chelsea? That was the 1st thing that popped into my head when I heard it.

All the press generally need is such a tenuous link.......

Looked like more to me for the main event. Like 8 to 10000. Was quite impressed with how full it was in the end.
