What can some of you knowing gents tell me about this hard hitting
slugger.

I have read on several occasions that he was favoured to beat Louis
after the war, but turned down oppurtunities at fighting Louis. Does
anyone know the back story to this ?

I have not seen any film of him, just have read that he was a vicious
body puncher and came from the circus strongman circuit.
