You are the poster who mentioned Hatton in this thread so I put you straight.

Hatton was offered the fights with the guys I mentioned and HE TURNED THEM DOWN.
I do not mean they were fights he could have had - these are fights he turned down..flat.

My question was WHO FIGHTS THE BEST AVAILABE.

Unfortunately out of the top three british fighters (Calzaghe, Hatton & Haye) Haye has shown himself to be the only one (with the exception of Hatton's challenge of Mayweather) who is prepared to chase the top fighters.

De la Hoya is pretty much insiginificant these days (compared to what he was 5 years ago). If a De la Hoya and Hatton fight had took place 5 years ago then the fight would have a total different meaning, likewise if Calzaghe had fought Roy Jones 10 years then the result would have actually counted for something.

Pacman vs Hatton is a better fight, for the fact that Pacman is hungry and in his prime. The same cannot be said of De la Hoya.

Cotto - his Light welter resume wasn't good - 2008 was a good year for him though.
Margarito and Haye might want it - but they haven't done it.

James Toney needs to be added - he fought Rahman x 2, Peter x 2, Holyfield in non "proper" title fights.

Chris Byrd - if he is still active.

Casamayor must be added also and Mayorga (even if he loses most of them).

Castillo, Campbell, Marquez, Freitas, Corrales x 3, Garcia, Santa Cruz, Kid Diamond, Kastidis etc - some in non title fights.

Mayorga - Forrest x 2, Spinks, Lewis, DLH, Trinidad, Piccirillo, Vargas, Mosley - aint bad!

In 2001 I did. But he certainly wasnt in his prime in 2005 when prior to his fight with Hatton he had had just 2 fights in the previous 3 years.

Probably not absolute prime but still one of the best in that division easily .

A prime KT would have chewed Hattopn t bits. A past it one took him 11 rounds.

SSM is a fighter who fights anyone,he is chasing Margarito the moment.

1) Good point - but that was just as he got back at Welter ad wanted 2 more fights, then he wanted PBF.
2) At least he TOOK the first fight. Turned down DLH? NO NO NO!
6) ARUM did - not COTTO - but once PBF left he did all he could to make the fight. PBF avoided it then.
7) Never offered the fight.
8) Williams? he took the first fight. Mosley he wanted more then $2M - he is worth it, Mayweather?Other way round - Mayweather was offered 8M and said no.
