Lennox Lewis - quashes rumours of a comeback

Personally I think he would be nuts to comeback - unless of course the bank manager has had a chat with him :o

What, he would be nuts to accept a $100 M dollar payday? I would suggest it's you who's nuts

Lewis not coming back? Thank feck for that. There's something particularly childish & petulant about the elder Klitschko when he's not got his manicured PR face on -- giving the big twat the satisfaction of revenging his loss against a fat forty-something Lewis would just be too too much for me.

Watch the footage of him ringside during Wlad's bouts with Sanders (& indeed his carry-on after it) & with Brewster, he acts like a six-foot-eight toddler who's been told he's not going to go to the sweetie store (I believe he's wearing what looks like a giant romper suit at one fight as well, which just adds to the hilarity).

Lennox wants $100 million!
43-year-old former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis says he will return for a rematch with Vitali Klitschko if someone coughs up $100 million. "It is not and it has never been about the money," Lewis claimed to the London Independent. "I've had big offers again and again since the first day that I retired and I always say 'No'. It is about respect and the glory. I have nothing to prove."

$100 mill.... I think that would be too much money for Lewis to ignore, even if Lewis has kept most his wealth

Those are the actual words that came out his mouth from the article. And using that info they have come to the conclusion that he would come out of retirement for 100mill.

Lennox is not coming back.

Its the same as a fighter asking for $20M to fight someone when they know there is only $5M in the pot.

Lennox will not be back.

He does not need the money.

What - and you believe everything that comes out of someone's mouth at face value?

How many times do fighters say 'I will never come back' and then do...or what about the guarantee of WMD?

Please don't tell me schools have dumbed down so much that you have abbreviated 'one million dollars' as WMD. Surely you cant mean weapons of mass destruction.

Yes he does that he can beat Vitali either on points or by KO. Lennox was losing when he used a slashing punch that caused one of the worst eye injuries I have ever seen. Not a good way to get the decision.

Lennox does not have anything to prove to anybody, and coming back at 43 definitely wouldn't prove anything . :shame:

Hes already beaten him, torn his face to pieces and wasn't far off KO'ing Vitali, Vitali was hanging on for dear life in the 5th and 6th and looked spent. I don't see the controversy, as it was Lennox walked Vitali down and walked through his arm punches to land the much more damaging punches. Lennox had the power that was starting to land more consistently, Vitali just didnt have the power to bother LEnnox and Lennox was figuring him out (ie using the left hook more). The judges had it 4-2 but it could just have easily been 3-3 and Lennox shook Vitali to his boots in a way Vitali didn't manage.

The only reason there is controversy is because of the shitty biased HBO commentary that seemed to think '1 more right hand will put Lennox away' URM he keeps landing them because Lennox doesnt even bother blocking those arm punches because hes happy to exchange and get off his more powerful shots

Latest story is that Lewis WILL fight, but it will have to be an obscene amount of money.

Now either Lewis has taken my advice and is just trying to tease Vitali, or he's softened to the idea. Because up until now he hasn't said anything but "no thank you" every time he has been asked. Now all of a sudden he is saying "yes, for the right money". That's a big attitude shift.

Watch this space.

For 100K i will get in the ring with Klit and smack him in the nuts.

In fact 1K will do 8)

The Klits combined could not lace Lennox's boots.

As he said, "one for breakfast, the other for lunch"

And in his prime, I would agree with him.

Vitali missed the boat for a rematch. Had he not kept pulling out of fights and actually beat some decent opposition after the Lewis loss, he may have created enough interest to get Lewis back in the ring.
Stop hanging off Lewis and try to create your own legacy Vitali! The man sounds like a broken record...
An old, fat Lennox ripped Vitali's face to pieces and would have knocked him out had the fight continued, and a fully prepared Lewis who actually respected Vitali would have done even more damage.
Time to move on.

Seeing an ancient Lewis trudging around the ring with grey hair and eroded skills would be a tragedy - even if he still had a chance of winning big fights. I don't want to see it, and luckily, I don't think I ever will.

Only last week I was told Lennox was weighing 322 lbs.
I think that tells you everything you need to know.
He won't fight again.

You wouldnt look good with your eye hanging out. Of course it was affecting Vitalys performance. Fact is Lennox was behind and the slashing hook won him the fight. Lennox wont face him again, he knows he will get beaten up.
