I thought it was good this week, nice to see they got the Haye stuff in..... a good editorial also. I agree with Glyn's assessment on the Jones vs Joe fight - in addition to his prediction of a prime vs prime fight. Thought the dig about the ring belt was unecessary - the fight itself was enough of a con job. It would have been refreshing to have seen it focus on the over hype the US and UK TV stations did of the fight, rather than on the belt that was on the line.

Bunce column was an enjoyable read, although I cannot help but think in his pieces is all he really saying is "I can get a press pass and you cannot nah, nah, nah, nah, nah"

In a nutshell - said Jones would have whooped Calzaghe in his prime..... said that the fight was "most desceptive fight ever"..... said Joe was extremely disrespective to a legend.... Well Joe is a bit of a legend himself really, and it could be said that Jones Jnr was very disrespectful to alot of boxers when he was in his prime.

It's a good article, agreed JC would have had his arse handed to him by Jones 10 years ago......like everyone else did.

He did showboat, but a lot of the guys he did it against - Telesco and Toney for example - deserved it. He was awesome.....sadly it's been tainted by the drugs theory.

Good point, I found it depressing how many non boxing fans I knew seemed to think it was the fight of the century and were all convinced this was a "must see" fight with Calzaghe taking on the superstar that is (as opposed to was) Roy Jones. The sport badly needs some new blood but it's still relying on the likes of Jones, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Mosley, Winky Wright and Barrera to see PPV in the U.S. and to get mainstream media coverage. To be honest I think Golden Boy need to take a lot of the blame, making up for the fact that their not bringing through enough new talent by recycling the faded legends.

I don't think 1 of his fights was shown by ITV or BBC

Woods v RJJ was on BBC2 on Sunday Grandstand. Not sure if it was the day after or week after though.

I'm glad he ripped Calzaghe. Calzaghe gets an injection of self esteem, in the post Jones-is-God era, and then goes off on indulgent ego trip.

A lot of ppl will have thought Calzaghe did a massive achievement, and so these kind of things need saying. Maybe he could have looked toward some kind of positive as well - perhaps as an alternative - i.e. recent big happenings at the super bantam and the super fly divisions.

Jones vs Woods, Tarver 1 and Johnson were shown on the BBC.

Yes, but you might very well have actually been covering one! Stu's point, I suppose, was that 99.9% of people wouldn't be and therefore wouldn't qualify...

Then again, most of the press section at most big fights have absolutely no intention of covering anything either.
