Who is David Haye to call out the Klits???

OK, lets get this straight....I like David Haye and wish him all the success in the world...the man is great for British boxing and with the immenent retirement of Joe and Rick it could be argued we NEED him..

But onto my point...why the hell should David be calling out the Klits without even fighting at least one top guy?? Beating Monte Barrett proves nothing...yet it is expected that the Klits SHOULD fight him...if they dont then they will be seen as cowards and bitches(current scene talk, not here)!

Considering the likes of Povetkin are higher in the rankings and the public imagination, should Haye at least fight a guy like Rahman or Maskaev?? These guys are beatable but there seems a misconcieved idea that a blown up Cruiser should be automatically given a shot...I dont remember Vassily Jirov( a monster at the weight) going in and automatically getting a shot, or James Toney(a HOF athlete) doing the same....

Could this just be a fighter not wanting to carry on much longer and making a decision that he wants the money, win or lose, he cant really be bothered building a career???

There is no reason they should fight him appart from the fact it will be a good fight, unlike Jirov he was unified CW champ and there are very few people at CW. I think he will fight a couple of times should he win.

I think the Klits should focus on the mandatories - for me, two potentially harder asks than Haye. I think though with the Mandatories, Valuev and Chagaev out of the way - then there is no one left for the Klits to fight...... but agree, these should all be above Haye in the que.

Well, he has had two blow out victories at Heavyweight and was the undisputed cruiser king, not bad credentials. Michael Spinx went straight from being light heavy champion into a heavyweight title fight and won . . .

Couldn't agree more. I have a feeling one of them will lose.

I'm not that bothered about the money bit but the rest is spot on.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who is/was the proven number one in a certain division can call out the top man in the weight above. Why not?

Bang on! I don't recall people saying who is Roy Jones to call out and take on Ruiz. There are numerous boxers who move up in weight and go straight into a title shot or at least into the contender ranks (Pacman VS Diaz, Jermain Taylor was offered a shot at the 168 WBS title without competing at the weight, Calzaghe Vs Hopkins, Cotto Vs Quintana, DLH-Strum, DLH-Whittaker.......)

POVETKIN IS HIGHER IN THE PUBLIC IMAGINATION ??????? :shame: :shame:

David Haye is glass chinned with a loose and wreckless defence

and he's the most pulverising Puncher since Tyson :box:

The division needs him

i will say however that id like a few more fights

if i was his promoter id go for Meehan.....Arreola.....Dimitrenko....and then ice Valuev...by this time either fight with a Klit would be ENOURMOUS awooga !

Funso?

Why would Haye want Meehan who Danny did in 35 seconds?

A Rahman would have been good.

Pocket,
Are you still an extra in Hollyoaks ? :TU:
I think you might have heard of PR and marketing !
Count up the column inches, the minutes of media footage and you get your answer.
He knows in his mind's eye that there's likely to be at least one fight, maybe two before the Klits, but already the seeds are sewn and we're all talkin about it - including the non boxing fraternity.
Money talks even to the Klitchko's.
Let's put a different slant on it - maybe it's the KLITS who want it sooner rather than later to give Haye no time to iron out the Heavyweight faults.
He's a dangerous player, for all his fragilities as Funso rightly points out.
Bring it on - can't wait.
Haye is a breath of fresh air.

Oh, and neither did Evander and he was pretty gud :TU:

Also, if he goes stright in now then the fight doesnt get built up enough...we get excited but in reality it will be a chinny Cruiser moving up to fight one of the big guys...if he loses no-one will care cos he was just a 'chinny cruiser'...now get some names under his belt(Not Monte Barrett or Audleys old victim) and the credibility of the fight couldnt be argued...this one is being rushed...other guys are ahead of him...

Twenty six, a man this handsome doesnt do extra roles!! :TU:

I just have a gut instinct that Haye would want the fight soon as he feels he could get decked by a contender...there is a 'get the fight quick' mentality...and he has already said he doesnt want to carry on too long...

But once again I have to say I like Haye, and he is willing to give us the big fights, even if some p[erspective is being lost

:o He's the former undisputed world cruiserweight champion. That alone qualifies him to face the Klitschkos. Look through history. It's happened many times before - star moves up from light-heavy/cruiser, gets immediate shot at heavyweight champ. Happens all the time at the lower weights, too.

If you're a marketable star, you don't have to prove yourself in any division.

I have said it before, and i'll say it again.

Rather Haye call out the best of the Division, than to wait till the best are old and about to retire, then call them out. Like a certain other British fighter does

This all came fronm a convo I had with a mate about the Macc fight Saturday night...We both a agreed that all perspective had been lost...before the fight Enzo and Haye was seen as a 50-50 by most, whoever landed would win..

Come fight night haye sparked Enzo...well done Dave, great win

But now Enzo is seen by most as some FW scrub while Haye has got the cowardly Klitchkos running scared, after one fight their reputations have gone in opposite directions, im a great believer that their real levels are somewhere towards the centre, Haye isnt a god and Macc isnt a bum...

Good luck to the both of them

Oh terry, just a sidenote, im sure that the public know more that you let on ....with all respect

I strongly and vehemently disagree with your assessment of Haye, but I concur that Enzo isn't a bum... he just needs an outing to wipe some of the memories from the neighsayers minds.

Hayes win over Mormeck made the Haye-Enzo fight abit more lopsided than a 50-50 IMO

A lot of people went for Enzo, Haye being fragile and weight drained...Enzo looking good against Braithwaite..

We all had differant opinions, what i was saying was that on average it was seen as a 50-50...

Glad you give Enzo his props, hopefully the camp will start giving Dave his :TU:

Holy was undisputed Cruiser too but he had 7 HW fights before going for Douglas. The Hw's don't care about the cruisers.

Cruiserweight Is there for a reason, there too big for LHW but too small for HW.

Khan was marketable too and he has to prove himself lots, especially If a jab can hurt him.

Haye is calling out the Klitschko's, because he's the type of fighter who doesn't like to hang around and waste time. That's exactly what boxing needs and I can't believe someone would start a thread and say something negative about his ambition. The heavyweight division also stinks, and Haye is as worthy a challenger as most of the other heavyweight contenders.

OK, not meaning to state the obvious but at the start of the thread I congratulated Haye on his ambition and said that we may need him...

My problem was that it was overhyped, that there were other contenders there for the Klits to fight and that Haye should prove himself with a least ONE big name...I also stated that it was getting ridiculous that people were claiming the Klits to be chicken for not fighting him next

I hardly think it was an attak on Haye, jesus h christ
